Job Description

Title: Engineering Technician 2 / Manufacturing Associate
Location: San Deigo, CA
Duration: 6 Months with posibility of extension or conversion

Meet the Team:

The team designs processes and equipment for each generation of client sensors, ranging from early-stage research concepts to high-volume manufacturing systems that produce tens of millions of sensors annually. This team operates within a unique and innovative environment where technical contributions directly impact customers’ lives—both today and in the future.

Where This Role Contributes:

  • Collaborates with Senior Scientists, Engineers, and Technicians to manufacture functional prototype sensors for next-generation product designs.

  • Supports engineering builds by fabricating units, collecting data, providing feedback, and assisting with troubleshooting and problem-solving activities.

  • Performs troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and daily setup/teardown of laboratory instruments and equipment.

  • Completes laboratory-related clerical tasks including filing, recordkeeping, data entry, and documentation of experimental results.

  • Manufactures sensor probes using a combination of released, off-the-shelf, and in-development equipment (e.g., laser singulation and coating systems).

  • Maintains a clean work environment and tracks sensor and material inventory.

  • Inputs and manages data using software applications including, but not limited to, Excel.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment.

  • Interest in challenging technical work and developing skills through hands-on learning and shadowing.

  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to document experiments clearly for replication and presentation.

  • Capable of managing timelines and contributing to projects within a collaborative setting.

  • Able to work safely with in-development chemical formulations and prototype automation systems.

This role values strong communicators and collaborative team members who are comfortable using computers, experienced with equipment operation, and familiar with manufacturing environments. Base-level equipment troubleshooting experience is preferred, with additional preference for candidates who have chemical handling or medical manufacturing experience.
