Role: Sr. Graphics Software Engineer Location: San Diego, CA – 100% Onsite Duration: 3 months
Job Overview Client is seeking a Senior Graphics Software Engineer to support the development and optimization of real-time Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) rendering systems for avatar and XR applications running directly on Android and edge devices, including smartphones and AR glasses. The role is highly hands-on and focused on GPU programming, Vulkan, modern C++, mobile GPU optimization, shader development, memory efficiency, and real-time rendering performance. The engineer will work closely with XR, computer vision, graphics, and avatar teams to improve performance-critical rendering systems running on Qualcomm Snapdragon/Adreno platforms.
Develop and optimize graphics and compute shaders using GLSL/HLSL, SPIR-V, and Vulkan.
Work with GPU compute techniques such as sorting, culling, binning, blending, prefix sums, and parallel processing.
Optimize shader input/data pathways for efficient on-device execution.
Integrate rendering pipelines with motion and lighting systems.
Data Pipeline & Memory Optimization
Design compact and memory-efficient representations for Gaussian Splatting frame data.
Optimize CPU-to-GPU data transfers.
Reduce intermediate processing and runtime memory overhead.
Apply efficient memory-management techniques for real-time embedded systems.
Debugging & Validation
Debug complex graphics and rendering issues on physical devices.
Investigate numerical precision issues and CPU/GPU inconsistencies.
Use graphics profiling and debugging tools to identify performance bottlenecks.
Validate rendering output against reference implementations.
Support pre- and post-silicon testing across simulation, emulation, and on-device environments.
Collaboration
Collaborate with XR, computer vision, graphics, and avatar teams.
Contribute to on-device demos and prototypes for phones and AR glasses.
Work with internal teams and stakeholders to implement new graphics features.
Prepare technical design documentation and feature specifications.
