Title: Associate Medical Technologist II

Location: New Castle, DE – 212 Cherry Lane
Duration: 3+ months
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:30 AM–6:00 PM
 

Position Summary

We are seeking an Associate Medical Technologist II to support a STAT Laboratory in New Castle, DE. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Hematology and Chemistry and experience performing routine laboratory testing in a clinical laboratory environment.

This position will work as a generalist within the STAT lab, performing routine testing, analyzing specimens and test results, maintaining laboratory equipment, and accurately documenting results.

Experience with Roche/Cobas systems is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine medical laboratory testing in a STAT laboratory environment.
• Perform testing primarily within Hematology and Chemistry.
• Receive, prepare, process, and analyze clinical specimens.
• Set up, operate, maintain, and clean laboratory equipment.
• Analyze test results and verify results for accuracy and conformity to laboratory specifications.
• Accurately document and record laboratory test results.
• Gather and analyze test data and prepare reports as required.
• Identify abnormal or unexpected test results and follow appropriate laboratory procedures.
• Work with laboratory instrumentation and automated testing systems.
• Follow established laboratory procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot routine testing or instrumentation issues and escalate issues when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
• Work collaboratively with laboratory staff, supervisors, and other members of the clinical team.
• Perform other laboratory duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• 2–4 years of medical laboratory/medical technologist experience.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related qualifying field.
• ASCP certification is required.
• Hands-on experience with Hematology and Chemistry testing.
• Ability to perform routine clinical laboratory testing accurately and efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Ability to analyze laboratory data and accurately record results.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while following established laboratory procedures.
• Must successfully complete required color vision screening.
• Must meet applicable CLIA testing personnel qualification requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Roche/Cobas laboratory systems.
• Experience working in a STAT laboratory.
• Generalist laboratory experience.
• Experience with automated Chemistry and Hematology analyzers.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems.

CLIA / Credentialing Requirements

Candidates must meet applicable CLIA standards for testing personnel. Candidates must possess at least one of the following:

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science; OR
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science from an accredited institution plus at least one year of training or experience in the specialty in which testing will be performed; OR
• At least 90 semester hours from an accredited institution, including:
  • 16 semester hours of Biology
  • 16 semester hours of Chemistry, including at least 6 hours of Inorganic Chemistry
  • 3 semester hours of Mathematics
  • Plus completion of an accredited Clinical Laboratory Training Program or one year of documented clinical laboratory training/experience in the testing specialty; OR
• Associate's degree in Medical Technology.

Candidates will be subject to credentialing review prior to starting. Official transcripts and a resume will be required for credentialing.

Certification

Required: ASCP certification.

Blood Bank experience is NOT required.
