Role: Electrical Engineer I Location: Largo, FL (Hybrid) Type: Direct Hire
Summary: Client is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join its Electrical Products division in Largo, FL. This team supports the tools, accessories, controls, and jobsite equipment used alongside Client's wire and cable products.
This is a newly created position within a growing group and will be the primary Electrical Engineer supporting the team locally. The role is highly hands-on and will focus heavily on motor control products, power electronics, electrical schematics, prototyping, troubleshooting, testing, and product development.
The engineer will work closely with product managers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing, quality, and other technical teams to take products from initial requirements through design, testing, certification, manufacturing, and ongoing lifecycle support.
Key Responsibilities
Develop electrical designs, schematics, and system architectures for commercial electrical products, including motor control devices and AC power monitoring products.
Design and troubleshoot power circuits and motor control systems.
Develop electrical schematics and support PCB development, including debugging and testing internally built boards.
Build prototypes and test boards to evaluate designs and troubleshoot product performance.
Translate customer and product requirements into technical design specifications.
Develop and execute verification and validation testing against product and regulatory requirements.
Support products through UL, IEC, FCC, and other applicable certification requirements.
Coordinate product certification testing with internal compliance teams and third-party testing organizations.
Work with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and other motor-control technologies.
Support embedded communication technologies and interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, and CAN.
Collaborate with software/firmware developers on products incorporating Bluetooth or other wireless communication capabilities.
Support DFMEA, DVP&R, design reviews, ECRs, FAIRs, and other engineering development processes.
Develop manufacturing test requirements and test equipment when needed.
Maintain design documentation, schematics, test results, engineering changes, and product records.
Support manufacturing and supply chain teams with technical issues throughout the product lifecycle.
Balance performance, cost, product requirements, manufacturability, and time to market.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
3+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
Hands-on experience developing and troubleshooting electrical hardware.
Ability to independently create electrical schematics.
Experience building prototypes, test boards, and conducting hands-on product testing.
Experience with motor controls, power electronics, and/or Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
Experience taking products through design, prototyping, debugging, testing, and manufacturing.
Experience with schematic and circuit design tools such as Altium Designer or similar platforms.
Working knowledge of communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, and CAN.
Ability to work effectively across mechanical, manufacturing, quality, product, and engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience designing products to meet UL listing or certification requirements.
Experience supporting products through third-party UL testing.
Experience working with Bluetooth or other wireless communication technologies.
Experience collaborating with firmware or software development teams.
Knowledge of electrical codes and wiring diagrams.
Manufacturing or process engineering experience.
