Job Title: MSBI Data Engineer Duration: 1 month Remote
Shift: Alternating shifts — 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST and 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM EST — flexibility required Experience Level: 7–9 years Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our data team supporting a critical client engagement. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with T-SQL development, stored procedures, and data warehousing concepts, along with the ability to read and troubleshoot ETL pipelines and communicate proactively with stakeholders. Experience in the insurance or finance domain is strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and optimize T-SQL queries and stored procedures for data extraction, transformation, and reporting • Apply strong data warehouse concepts (dimensional modeling, ETL processes, fact/dimension tables) to support ongoing data initiatives • Read, interpret, and troubleshoot ETL pipelines and data flows built in SSIS; support and interpret reports built in SSRS • Perform data analysis using advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, macros, etc.) to support business reporting needs • Take ownership of client communication — proactively flagging data issues, sharing progress updates, and following through on resolutions. • Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements, clarify data issues, and deliver solutions • Provide production support including occasional weekend maintenance windows and holiday support as required • Document processes, data flows, and issue resolutions clearly for team and stakeholder reference Required Skills • 7–9 years of hands-on experience with T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, and query optimization • Solid understanding of data warehouse concepts and ETL principles • Strong ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot ETL pipelines/data flows (SSIS) and reports (SSRS) • Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proactive approach to client/stakeholder communication Preferred Skills • Prior experience in the Insurance or Finance domain • Knowledge of Autosys scheduler tool will be an asset • Exposure to data quality checks, reconciliation, or audit processes Shift & Availability Requirements • Must be available and flexible to work on an alternating shift basis — 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST and 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM EST • Must be willing to support occasional weekend maintenance windows • Must be available to support holiday coverage as per business needs
