Packaging Operator - Level 1
Location: Montreal, QC
Schedule: Shifts 1, 2, and 3
Availability: Candidates must be available to work any shift, as shifts can frequently change.

Summary:

The Packaging Operator will perform preparation, packaging, cleaning, equipment assembly, inspections, and quality control activities for pharmaceutical products. All activities must be completed in accordance with established procedures, packaging instructions, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), health and safety requirements, environmental standards, and site procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preparation and packaging activities for pharmaceutical products.
• Clean and assemble equipment used across different packaging lines according to established procedures and GMP requirements.
• Clean rooms, equipment parts, work areas, floors, walls, sinks, and other designated surfaces.
• Disassemble, clean, and reassemble packaging equipment.
• Clear packaging lines or sections of lines as required.
• Follow GMP, HSE, and site safety procedures.
• Troubleshoot equipment during operation and support continuous line operation.
• Understand bottleneck concepts and prioritize interventions to maintain production flow.
• Inspect equipment, components, and packaged products for cleanliness, condition, and quality.
• Start up designated packaging equipment.
• Complete and verify packaging documentation, logs, cleaning labels, and other records in accordance with GMP requirements.
• Handle materials and loads safely.
• Manage waste, including general waste and pharmaceutical rejects.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Check and prepare components for production.
• Perform sanitation activities.
• Supply hoppers and other production equipment as required.
• Perform manual palletizing.
• Complete required computer transactions.
• Support the training of colleagues when required.
• Participate in team committees and special projects, including HSE and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform CIL (Clean, Inspect, Lubricate) tasks.
• Participate in shift handovers and shift launches.
• Operate non-complex packaging equipment, such as slat/cavity fillers and manual boxing equipment.
• Prepare equipment parts for subsequent batches.
• Support training follow-up activities, including procedure updates when required.
• Move component pallets between the warehouse and production lines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of GMP is an asset.
• Approximately 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry is an asset.
• Mechanical aptitude is an asset.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and documentation requirements.
• Ability to work in a production/packaging environment.
• Ability to work any assigned shift and adapt to changing shift schedules.
