Title: Technical Program Manager II Location: On-site in Redmond, WA preferred; will also consider Sunnyvale, CA Duration: 9 month assignment w/ potential for extension
Summary:
The Technical Program Manager is responsible for the successful definition, implementation, and delivery of complex, cross-functional programs involving multiple interdependent projects.
This role requires strategic planning, strong communication, and collaboration across engineering, vendor partners, and internal business teams to ensure delivery within scope, quality, time, and budget constraints.
Deliver programs within defined scope, quality, schedule, and budget constraints, navigating moderate?probability and moderate?impact risk factors
Lead cross-functional, multi-project initiatives requiring broad alignment and coordination across engineering, operations, and vendor teams
Need someone with experience managing overseas contract manufacturing vendors, interfacing w/ them and their engineering team, overseeing program management.
Oversee all phases from design through “OK to Fab,” including work with flexes, rigid boards, and hardware design processes.
Ensure effective implementation planning and project tracking in large-scale enterprise environments.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Provide program?level strategic planning and partner with executive-level leadership for direction-setting and status communication.
Manage and influence internal exempt employees, matrixed teams, and contractors to deliver high-quality systems and enhancements.
Foster strong team collaboration, uphold accountability, and drive issue resolution.
Engage with vendors, ensuring expectations, schedules, and deliverables are clearly aligned and managed.
Operational & Technical Oversight
Lead scope definition, requirements gathering, documentation, and timeline estimation.
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, status reports, and communication plans across multiple organizational levels.
Drive the use of program-level issue/bug tracking and risk management tools.
Manage creation and maintenance of build matrixes across multiple configurations.
Required Skills:
Need some level of electrical engineering experience - primarily interfacing w/ managing electrical engineering team, scheduling milestones, up-leveling key issues & risks from the engineering team.
Proven track record managing cross-functional programs, complex schedules, risk management frameworks, and bug/issue tracking in large organizations.
Demonstrated success in project and program management, particularly in environments involving vendor coordination.
Oversee all phases from design through “OK to Fab,” including work with flexes, rigid boards, and hardware design processes.
Strong background in program issue/bug tracking and risk management frameworks.
Proficiency with project estimating, scheduling, and tracking in large organizations.
Strong people management and team-building skills.
Ability to adapt and exercise sound judgment in rapidly changing environments with competing priorities.
Aptitude for understanding business processes quickly and collaborating effectively across organizational levels.
Strong capability in assessing risks and applying technology?related management principles.
Experience delivering technology and business application solutions within large-scale, multi-platform systems.
Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
Nice-to-Have Skills:
Mandarin language proficiency.
Additional experience developing field matrices with a wide range of configuration options.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field required.
MBA or a related advanced degree preferred.
PMP or PMI certification preferred.
