Role: Dispatcher Location: Kitchener, Ontario Employment: Direct hire Target Start: Oct 1 to mid-Oct Experience: Minimum 2 to 2.5 years Schedule: ~8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
This role coordinates daily truck movements, assigns loads to drivers, and monitors routes to ensure timely pickups and deliveries. The Dispatcher communicates regularly with drivers, customers, and internal teams to provide updates, resolve issues, and adjust schedules as needed. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records in dispatch and tracking systems, responding to calls and messages, and handling unexpected changes such as traffic delays or equipment problems. The role also involves verifying compliance with company policies and transportation regulations, supporting drivers with clear instructions, and collaborating with operations leadership to optimize fleet utilization.Along with own contacts with customers and brokers to bring in more business.
Qualifications
Strong organizational and time-management skills for scheduling, prioritizing tasks, and handling multiple trips concurrently.
Clear and professional communication skills, including confident telephone and written communication with drivers, customers, and internal staff.
Ability to use dispatch, routing, and tracking software, as well as general computer proficiency with email, spreadsheets, and data entry.
Problem-solving and decision-making skills to manage route changes, service issues, and unexpected operational challenges under time pressure.
Knowledge of transportation or logistics operations, including basic understanding of road safety and compliance requirements (experience in trucking dispatch is an asset).
Attention to detail for maintaining accurate records, verifying trip information, and tracking driver status and load details.
Ability to work on-site in Kitchener, ON, including occasional extended or flexible hours based on operational needs.
High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain, or a related field is considered an advantage

Note: Need candidate who can bring in direct contacts and business, as this is crucial for his operations in the trucking industry.
The work schedule for the candidate would be approximately 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
