Job Title: Scrum Master / Project Manager
Location: 100% Remote (Candidates located near one of the company locations are preferred; within 50 miles (Salisbury, NC, Mauldin, SC, Quincy, MA, Carlisle, PA, Scarborough, ME)
Duration: 4+ months
 
Overview
  • Client is seeking an experienced Scrum Master / Project Manager to lead and deliver strategic initiatives across cross-functional teams.
  • This role requires an individual who can effectively balance Agile team leadership with traditional project management responsibilities, serving as both a Scrum Master and Project Manager in a 50/50 capacity.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting two Scrum teams, facilitating Agile ceremonies, removing impediments, and coaching teams on Agile best practices, while also owning overall project delivery, including timelines, risks, dependencies, budgets, financial tracking, stakeholder communication, and reporting.
  • Candidates should be able to attend occasional onsite workshops, PI Planning sessions, or other one-off business meetings if required
  • Due to client’s return-to-office strategy, only candidates located near an client’s office and able to accommodate potential future business needs will be considered
 
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Scrum Master Responsibilities (50%)
  • Support and coach up to two Scrum teams in Agile and Scrum best practices
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies including:
  • Sprint Planning
  • Daily Stand-Ups
  • Sprint Reviews
  • Retrospectives
  • PI Planning activities
  • Partner closely with Product Owners to ensure backlog readiness and prioritization
  • Remove obstacles that may impact team productivity or delivery
  • Promote continuous improvement and Agile maturity across teams
  • Foster a collaborative, transparent, and psychologically safe team environment
  • Help resolve team conflicts and improve overall team effectiveness
  • Serve as a liaison between Product Owners, stakeholders, and development teams
  • Monitor team health, delivery progress, and adherence to Agile principles
  • Project Management Responsibilities (50%)
  • Manage projects from initiation through implementation and delivery
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects and initiatives
  • Define project scope, objectives, timelines, resource requirements, and deliverables
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, workstreams, and status reporting
  • Own project risks, dependencies, issue management, and escalation processes
  • Manage project budgets, financial tracking, forecasting, and resource planning
  • Coordinate activities across business stakeholders, Product Owners, technology teams, and vendors
  • Ensure projects remain on schedule and aligned with business objectives
  • Conduct project meetings and provide executive-level updates and communications
  • Track and manage vendor deliverables where applicable
  • Assess project challenges and implement solutions to meet productivity, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction goals
 
Team & Environment
  • Agile environment with established Scrum teams and ceremonies already in place
  • Support for up to two Scrum teams simultaneously
  • Scrum team sizes typically range from 5–10 team members
  • High interaction with:
  • Product Owners
  • Business Stakeholders
  • Technology Teams
  • Project Sponsors
  • Leadership Partners
  • Vendor interaction will vary based on the initiative
 
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Proven experience serving in both Project Manager and Scrum Master capacities
  • Strong experience managing projects from planning through execution and delivery
  • Deep understanding of Agile methodologies, Scrum frameworks, and project management best practices
  • Experience managing project budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and competing priorities simultaneously
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, facilitation, and leadership skills
  • Experience driving issue resolution and risk mitigation across complex initiatives
  • Ability to build trust and influence across technical and business teams
 
Preferred Tools & Technologies
  • Experience with the following tools is highly preferred:

  • Success in the First 6 Months

  • Build strong relationships and establish credibility with teams and stakeholders
  • Successfully support two Scrum teams while promoting Agile best practices
  • Effectively manage project timelines, risks, dependencies, budgets, and communications
  • Deliver project objectives while maintaining a high level of stakeholder satisfaction
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, organization, and execution across multiple initiatives
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • This role is ideal for a professional who can successfully support two Scrum teams as a Scrum Master while simultaneously managing overall project delivery, including timelines, risks, dependencies, stakeholder communications, budgets, and financial tracking.
  • The ideal candidate is equally comfortable facilitating Agile ceremonies, coaching teams, providing executive updates, and driving enterprise-level project execution from concept through completion.
