Job Description
Title:Figma Design Specialist
Location: Remote (United States)
Duration: 3 Months with possible extension
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 40 Hours/Week
Job Description
The Figma Design Specialist will lead a large-scale enterprise Figma design system migration, moving a complex, interconnected Figma environment from one Enterprise account to another. This role requires deep expertise in Figma design systems, shared libraries, component architecture, design tokens, and Token Studio. The specialist will work closely with internal design teams to audit, restructure, migrate, validate, and optimize design system assets while ensuring minimal disruption to active product design work.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience managing enterprise-scale Figma libraries, performing design system migrations, resolving component and token dependencies, and implementing scalable design architecture. This is a highly technical, hands-on role requiring someone who can independently assess complex design environments, execute migration strategies, troubleshoot issues, and document decisions throughout the migration process.
Key Responsibilities
Design Systems & Shared Library Management
-
Audit Figma workspace files and map shared library dependencies, component references, and token connections across Patterns, Recipes, Templates, and production files.
-
Lead duplication and restructuring of the Foundations library into a brand-specific library while maintaining component naming integrity.
-
Execute Figma's Swap Library functionality across the complete design system.
-
Reconnect shared components after the Foundations library is migrated into the new Enterprise account.
-
Identify and manually resolve components that cannot be automatically matched due to renamed, deleted, or structurally modified assets.
-
Validate published libraries including Patterns, Recipes, and Templates after migration.
-
Ensure downstream design files continue receiving library updates correctly.
-
Document migration decisions, structural changes, and known limitations for the design team.
Design Tokens & Variable Management
-
Configure Token Studio within the new Enterprise Figma account.
-
Connect Token Studio to a brand-specific token architecture.
-
Validate color, typography, spacing, and component token connections following migration.
-
Identify and resolve broken or mismatched token references.
-
Ensure long-term maintainability of the token architecture for an independent design system.
Migration Execution
-
Execute an initial proof-of-concept migration by duplicating a low-complexity team into a sandbox workspace.
-
Test migration of a library file and document findings before full migration begins.
-
Coordinate with Enterprise administrators on team-level migration activities.
-
Execute migration in a structured sequence to minimize disruption to active production work.
-
Perform complete QA of the migrated environment before project handoff.
-
Verify there are no broken component references, disconnected libraries, or missing token connections.
Required Qualifications
-
Expert-level proficiency with Figma.
-
Deep understanding of Figma files, libraries, components, variants, publishing workflows, and shared libraries.
-
Hands-on experience building, maintaining, or rebuilding enterprise Figma shared libraries.
-
Strong knowledge of design token architecture and Figma Variables.
-
Experience using Figma's Swap Library feature in production environments.
-
Ability to audit large and complex Figma workspaces and identify structural dependencies.
-
Strong attention to detail with experience performing precise, high-volume migration work.
-
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
-
7–10 years of relevant design systems or Figma experience (Level IV).
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
-
Hands-on experience with Token Studio.
-
Experience configuring Token Studio, multi-brand token sets, and Figma Variable integration.
-
Experience with Figma Enterprise administration.
-
Knowledge of Enterprise organization settings, team structure, seat management, and library sharing permissions.
-
Previous experience performing Figma Enterprise migrations, design system migrations, or brand split initiatives.
-
Experience working with multi-brand design systems and shared foundation libraries.
Bonus Qualifications
-
Previous experience migrating an Enterprise Figma environment between Enterprise accounts.
-
Knowledge of Figma plugins for library management, token management, or bulk operations.
-
Experience presenting migration findings, technical decisions, and recommendations to design leadership.
Work Environment
-
Fully remote within the United States.
-
Work closely with internal Product Design and Design Systems teams.
-
Support active production design teams throughout the migration.
-
Collaborate with two additional Technical Figma Designers joining during the first month.
-
Fast-paced, deadline-driven migration project requiring precision and attention to detail.
-
Candidate must provide their own laptop.
-
Company email address and Figma Enterprise access will be provided.
-
Self-directed role requiring independent problem solving and technical decision making.
