Position Title: Phlebotomist V
Location: Jeffersonville, IN 47130

Duration: 3+ Months
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday
7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Job Summary
The Phlebotomist V will perform advanced phlebotomy and specimen processing duties while assisting with troubleshooting, staff training, and workflow improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in specimen collection, processing, patient interaction, and laboratory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and specimen collection using straight and butterfly needles.
- Collect, label, process, centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens according to established procedures.
- Verify laboratory requisitions and specimen labeling for accuracy.
- Maintain specimen integrity through proper handling, storage, and transportation procedures.
- Update and maintain patient records and demographic information.
- Record maintenance data and perform equipment decontamination as required.
- Explain blood draw and specimen collection procedures to patients in a professional and courteous manner.
- Review physician orders and ensure proper specimen collection requirements are met.
- Respond to laboratory-related inquiries and assist with communication of test information.
- Support troubleshooting efforts, workflow enhancements, and staff training initiatives.
- Adhere to OSHA, DEP, and all applicable laboratory safety regulations.
- Participate in annual departmental training and compliance programs.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Phlebotomy Certification (where required by state regulations).
- Minimum 10+ years of phlebotomy experience.
- At least 6 months of recent experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of specimen handling, processing, and transportation procedures.
- Excellent communication and patient care skills.
