Job Description

Job Title: IT Portfolio Manager
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid – Mon & Fri Remote | Tue-Thu Onsite)
Duration: 6 Months (possibility of extension)
 
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced IT Portfolio Manager to support enterprise technology initiatives across strategic business units. This role will partner closely with CIOs, business leaders, and enterprise technology teams to drive portfolio governance, technology investment planning, AI/data initiatives, and enterprise transformation programs.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing enterprise technology portfolios within Insurance or Financial Services environments, with the ability to balance strategic priorities, stakeholder alignment, financial governance, and operational execution. This is a highly visible, executive-facing role focused on portfolio strategy, business value realization, AI enablement, and technology modernization.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Portfolio Strategy & Governance
  • Manage and evolve enterprise technology portfolios aligned with business strategy and organizational priorities
  • Drive portfolio intake, prioritization, investment planning, and roadmap management
  • Partner with CIOs and senior leadership to translate strategic goals into actionable technology initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for standardization, scalability, and operational efficiency across platforms and programs
  • Establish governance frameworks to improve transparency, accountability, and execution alignment
  • Manage program interdependencies, risks, sequencing, and resource planning
  • Evaluate emerging technologies including AI, data platforms, and modernization strategies
 
Value Realization & Performance Management:
  • Define and track KPIs, portfolio metrics, and business impact measurements
  • Support investment case analysis, financial planning, and benefits realization tracking
  • Provide executive-level portfolio reporting highlighting risks, opportunities, and strategic trade-offs
  • Partner with finance and business teams to optimize portfolio spend and value delivery
  • Improve portfolio management processes, reporting frameworks, and operational governance
 
Stakeholder & Executive Engagement:
  • Act as a strategic liaison between business units, IT leadership, and enterprise technology teams
  • Facilitate executive discussions related to priorities, investments, and portfolio decisions
  • Build alignment across cross-functional stakeholders for enterprise-wide initiatives
  • Prepare and present executive-level dashboards, presentations, and strategic updates
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5–8 years of experience managing enterprise technology projects/programs within Insurance or Financial Services
  • Strong experience in IT Portfolio Management, PMO Governance, or Strategic Program Management
  • Strong PowerPoint and executive presentation skills
  • Experience working with AI productivity tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, or Claude
  • Strong understanding of software development, IT infrastructure, AI technologies, and enterprise modernization initiatives
  • Experience managing multiple priorities within complex matrix organizations
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Jira, MS Office 365, and portfolio management/reporting tools
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PMP, Agile, Scrum Master, or related certifications
  • Product Owner or Business Analyst experience
  • Exposure to enterprise AI transformation initiatives
  • Experience supporting CIO organizations or enterprise PMO functions
