Title: CAD Design Engineer
Location: Plano, TX
Duration: 6 Months (contract to perm)
Department: Design Engineering
Reports to: Engineering Manager
SUMMARY
Performs drafting and design work to generate submittal, specification, fabrication, erection, standards, and project drawings with distinctive design features. Completes assigned activities under general direction of the Engineering Manager.

HERE'S WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Generating a variety of drawings and performing required calculations while effectively managing design hours and meeting schedules.
- Creating and maintaining electronic bills of material.
- Generating and supporting P&ID, layout, general arrangement, fabrication, assembly, BIM, and field erection drawings through entire life cycle, from initial concept to working installation.
- Responding to questions pertaining to designs.
- Contributing to product improvement and development.
- Performs functions as CAD administrator.
- Work directly with vendors, internal departments, and clients to develop designs and solve issues.
- Perform general engineering analysis and prepare required 3D models, 2D layouts, detailed drawings, calculations, specifications, and instructions, with limited supervision.
- Document and update design procedures on a regular basis.
- Participate in product improvement, reliability, and cost reduction projects.
- Performs all work in accordance with established quality (ISO 9001:2015) and safety procedures.
- Other duties may be assigned as required.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS WILL INCLUDE:
- Ability to read and understand specifications, fabrication, erection, and standard engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of applicable codes, tables and standard reference books used for design to the specific discipline.
- Knowledge of drafting standards for mechanical, structural, and electrical design.
- Competency in Autodesk Plant 3D Design Suite; Revit, MS Suite
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans, specs, and other industry related documents.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL POSSESS:
- Bachelor’s degree in the mechanical, chemical, or environmental engineering discipline is required from an accredited university, and at least two (2) years design experience; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
WILL I NEED TO TRAVEL:
- Varies, but typically no more than 5% on average.
