Job Description

Job Title: Bus Syst Consultant III (ServiceNow HRSD)
Duration: 12 Months
Location: Remote
Schedule:
  • Contract to Hire
  • Estimated duration:12 months
  • Days: Mon-Fri
  • Hours: 8-5PM EST (Candidates outside of the EST time zone will have to adjust their local hours to work the EST work hours- example 6AM-3PM Pacific)
Note: Extra hours may be required during business peaks or to meet seasonal deadlines.
Position Summary:
  • This senior level professional position is responsible to lead business system application process improvements and system enhancements. Serves as a subject matter expert between vendors, business areas, Legal and IT for support, system projects and implementations. Leads projects with higher complexity and risk.

Project work:
  • Serves as a project lead and/or contributes to the leadership of projects.
  • Develops and/or contributes to project documentation including timelines, initiation document, work break down structure, estimates, etc.
  • Identifies stakeholders, business problems, business objectives related to system issues and projects while accounting for the impact across other business functions and systems.
  • Analyzes and uses data to recommend business systems solutions.
  • Participates in design review sessions ensuring compliance to requirements, system standards and usability.
  • Conducts meetings with customer groups and/or IT, including senior management, to present findings and recommendations and influences decisions on proposed ideas.
  • Conducts, coordinates and/or participates in the design, development and delivery of the training related to assigned projects.
  • Conducts and/or coordinates communications efforts as it relates to projects to include status, timeline, scope changes, risks and issues, rollouts, etc.
  • Contributes to the post implementation review and may make recommendations for process changes relative to a specific process or project.
Project coordination:
  • Serves as primary and/or secondary resource to document, monitor and coordinate resolution of system issues per established processes. Escalates issues as needed.
  • Creates/contributes and executes a post implementation plan in coordination with Project Manager.
  • Resolves escalated issues and may resolve issues on an infrastructure level.
  • May research and share industry best practices.
  • May develop external networking relationships using a variety of methods and recommends industry best practices to overall projects.
Technical resource:
  • Serves as an expert resource and provides direction for system issues and problem solving.
  • Serves as subject matter expert related to multiple system applications or business processes.
Requirements gathering:
  • Creates business requirements and evaluates technical solutions by discussing business needs with end user, managers and project teams.
  • May work with IT to determine technical requirements.
  • Provides system design recommendations as it relates to business requirements.
  • Consults with end users to surface essential requirements information. Solicits ideas for system solutions from end users and key business contact in order to get feedback on best design.
  • Conducts fit gap analysis and/or comparative analysis to aid in the creation of business requirements.
Testing:
  • Defines, contributes and/or coordinates the development and approval of the test plan, approach and scripts.
  • Executes and/or coordinates the implementation of the test plan, approach and scripts.
  • Documents, monitors and coordinates resolution of test issues per established processes.
  • Evaluates risks associated with testing approaches and makes recommendations for alternative testing approaches.
Coaching/mentoring:
  • May be responsible for reviewing and providing feedback on the work of other team members on specific assignments and projects.
  • Coaches and counsels on specific assignments and/or projects.
Cloud computing (if applicable):
  • Translates business requirements into SaaS technical designs.
  • Configures SaaS application.
  • Maintains application environments (test, production, etc).
  • Provisions and maintains access control.
  • May provide SaaS end user assistance with high level questions or issues.
Education And/or Experience:
  • Education and/or experiences listed below are the minimum requirements for job entry.
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in business systems (e.g., systems integration, implementing technology solutions, project management, process design and optimization, testing and troubleshooting systems, training and supporting users, ensuring compliance and security, gathering and documenting requirements).
  • {OR} Bachelor's degree or higher and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in business systems (e.g., systems integration, implementing technology solutions, project management, process design and optimization, testing and troubleshooting systems, training and supporting users, ensuring compliance and security, gathering and documenting requirements).
Knowledge, Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledge, skills/abilities listed below are the requirements needed to be proficient in the job.
  • Advanced knowledge of vendor and/or internally developed systems including system interfaces, user functionality and various system environments.
  • Intermediate computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes.
  • Ability to use multiple reporting tools and understands data and relationship to create, modify and run more complex reports (i.e. joins, sub-queries).
  • Understands business area processes and procedures and uses process mapping tools for current and new systems solutions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, lead meetings, prepare documentation and present recommendations.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, set priorities, follow up on open items and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with and protect highly confidential information.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Typical office environment requiring the use of typical office equipment (e.g., computers, phones, etc.) Computer keyboarding, computer monitor and mouse use including reaching forward, grasping, finger and wrist manipulation, and neck bending and turning; near vision is necessary for computer monitor use. If working in an Emerging Workspace, or similar working arrangement, lifting of laptop equipment, files and/or personal belongings weighing 10 lbs or less is required.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:
  • Prefer bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or discipline (Information Technology or Business Systems) but other factors such as ServiceNow consulting experience might substitute
  • Manager prefers at least 5 years’ experience in Information Technology / Systems
  • At least 3 years relevant work experience in ServiceNow Configuration (Configuration in HR Case Management, Life Cycle Events, Knowledge Management) but will consider less if other factors are stronger
  • Solid experience writing ServiceNow reports and Dashboards
  • Prefers 3-4 years working within the HR Domain
  • Solid experience using Excel and similar tools for data transformation and analysis
  • Experience using Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint, DevOps and other office applications
  • Problem solver that can break a problem into its small, modular pieces to develop a methodical approach to a solution
  • Strong written and verbal communication including storytelling and slide writing
  • Always willing to learn, do thorough research, fact-finding, gather knowledge and not afraid to ask questions
  • Effective time management and organizational skills and works well under pressure
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow modules, administration, configurations and automation tools (Flow designer, Workflow editor, Automation Engine, etc.).  ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) preferred.
  • Hands-on experience supporting or implementing HRSD case management, knowledge management, lifecycle events, agent workspaces, reports, and dashboards is preferred. Prior experience with Performance Analytics is desirable.
  • Demonstrated capability to stay updated on the latest developments and best practices in ServiceNow HRSD and related areas
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps processes.
  • ITIL knowledge/certification will serve as an advantage.
