Job Title: Data Center Technician I
Location: Hermiston, Oregon
Duration: 6 Months/ Possibility of extension
Shifts: Schedule flexibility required, including potential night shift positions
Shift options include Sunday–Wednesday or Wednesday–Saturday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM or 7:30 AM–6:00 PM
Contingent workers are expected to work holidays if scheduled (regular pay, not holiday pay)
First two weeks: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM (Training)

Job Description:
- As a Data Center Technician at Amazon, you serve as one of many primary resolvers for your support team, skilled at troubleshooting and resolving complex hardware infrastructure issues.
- You support and share knowledge of these technologies with team members.
- You possess basic to intermediate system administration skills and work autonomously to resolve server issues.
- You understand all aspects of the equipment you support.
- You know how to take direction when given, paying attention to all details involved.
- You work well with a team.
- You are receptive to feedback and able to adjust performance and behavior as required for the position.
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic networking knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP (1+ years)
- Familiarity with hardware components inside a server/computer (1+ years)
- Ability to perform hardware replacements and repairs
- Basic Linux/Unix command line knowledge
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
- Receptive to feedback and able to adjust performance and behavior as required
Degree or Certification:
- High school or equivalent diploma
- (Optional) CompTIA, CompTIA+
- Ability to perform hardware replacements and repairs
- Understanding of cooling systems and power distribution
- Basic Linux/Unix command line knowledge
- Experience with ticketing systems and documentation
- Ability to perform basic network troubleshooting
Physical Environment and Safety Protocols:
- Must successfully pass through metal detection equipment daily
- Required to work in data center environments with variable temperature conditions
- Temperature fluctuations dependent on seasonal changes and external weather conditions
- Work areas may contain environmental allergens and airborne particles including dust
Physical Requirements:
- Must successfully pass through metal detection equipment daily
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Standing/walking for extended periods
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
- Capability to work in various environmental conditions
- Temperature fluctuations dependent on seasonal changes and external weather conditions
- Work areas may contain environmental allergens and airborne particles including dust
- Ability to adapt to varying temperature conditions within the data center environment
- Ability to follow required security protocols including metal detection screening
