Job Title: Safety Cyber Manager
Location: Auburn Hills, MI (Onsite)
Duration: 3+ Months
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Safety Cyber Manager to lead functional safety and cybersecurity initiatives for automotive programs. This role will ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISO 26262, ISO 21434, and UNECE R155, while driving secure-by-design and risk-based strategies across vehicle platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Governance & Compliance
Develop and maintain Safety & Cybersecurity Plans across programs
Ensure compliance with ISO 26262, ISO 21434, UNECE R155, and internal standards
Prepare and present Safety/Cyber Cases during audits and assessments
2. Risk Management
Perform TARA (Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment) and HARA (Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment)
Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
Monitor safety and cybersecurity activities throughout the lifecycle
3. Project Integration
Collaborate with EE Architecture teams on ECU/system design
Integrate safety and cybersecurity concepts into system architecture
Utilize reusable safety/cyber modules
4. Technical Leadership
Guide decisions on:

- Secure Boot & Secure Updates (OTA/FOTA)
- PKI Architecture
- Defense-in-depth strategies
Oversee:
- Safety validation
- Penetration testing
- Vulnerability management
- Incident response planning
- 5. Stakeholder Management
- Work with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and certification bodies
- Represent safety & cybersecurity in audits and regulatory reviews
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in automotive cybersecurity and functional safety
Strong expertise in:
- ISO 26262 (Functional Safety)
- ISO 21434 (Cybersecurity)
- UNECE R155
- CSMS (Cyber Security Management System)
- Hands-on experience with:
- ECU architecture
- OTA/FOTA security
- Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL)
- Strong communication and leadership skills
Core Competencies:
- Functional Safety (ISO 26262, HARA, Safety Case) – Expert
- Cybersecurity Standards (ISO 21434, R155, CSMS) – Expert
- Risk Assessment & TARA – Advanced
