Job Title: Child Care Teacher

Job Summary:
Utilizing the Reggio education approach, the Child Care Teacher plans, develops, and implements creative and adaptive lesson plans for children aged six weeks to six years. This role focuses on creating a safe, secure, and engaging environment that supports children’s self-esteem, growth, and overall development. The teacher ensures learning is a fun, enriching process that encourages children to explore their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum & Child Development
- Plan, develop, and implement lesson plans for the assigned classroom.
- Promote cognitive, social, language, and motor development (gross and fine motor skills).
- Foster independence, self-concept, and self-esteem through positive interactions.
- Apply Reggio Emilia concepts in both indoor and outdoor learning environments.
Child Monitoring & Communication
- Document children’s daily progress, activities, and observations.
- Prepare and communicate reports and feedback to parents.
- Maintain accurate records for each child.
- Ensure smooth transitions for children and parents in and out of the classroom.
Classroom & Environment Management
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
- Ensure all furniture, toys, and materials are regularly cleaned and sanitized.
- Identify and remove safety hazards (e.g., broken toys, spills, unsafe surfaces).
- Follow infection control and environmental health guidelines.
Supervision & Team Collaboration
- Supervise teacher aides and volunteers.
- Collaborate with teachers, team leaders, and supervisors to address children’s needs.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuing education.
- Support program goals that promote respect, autonomy, and family involvement.
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to licensing and accrediting body requirements and standards.
- Ensure proper preparation, labeling, and storage of cleaning solutions.
- Maintain appropriate supervision on playgrounds and in classrooms.
- Follow all organizational policies and procedures.
Additional Duties
- Assist with special projects and departmental initiatives.
- Accept alternate assignments as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working with children aged 6 weeks to 6 years (paid or unpaid).
- Minimum of 2 years of formal experience.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and comprehension skills.
- Problem-solving and logical thinking abilities.
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Capability to manage frequent and intense interactions.
- Physical ability to bend, climb, and work in a noisy environment.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience with children aged 6 weeks to 2 years.
- Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia approach.
Education Requirements:
Required:
- Associate degree (2-year) in Early Childhood Education, Child Psychology, or related field
OR - High School Diploma + minimum 40 hours coursework in Early Childhood Education or related field
OR - Equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education
