Job Title: Child Care Teacher

Job Summary:
Utilizing the Reggio education approach, the Child Care Teacher plans, develops, and implements creative and adaptive lesson plans for children aged six weeks to six years. The role focuses on creating a safe, secure, and engaging environment that supports children's self-esteem, growth, and overall development while making learning a fun and enriching experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum & Child Development
- Plan, develop, and implement lesson plans for assigned classroom
- Promote cognitive, social, language, and motor skill development
- Encourage independence and positive self-concept in children
- Apply Reggio Emilia concepts in indoor and outdoor classroom settings
Child Progress & Communication
- Document children’s daily activities and developmental progress
- Prepare reports and provide feedback to parents
- Maintain accurate records for each child
Classroom Management & Supervision
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free classroom
- Supervise teacher aides and volunteers
- Ensure proper staff coverage and supervision, including playground areas
Health, Safety & Infection Control
- Follow infection control procedures and safety guidelines
- Clean and sanitize classroom furniture, toys, and surfaces regularly
- Identify and report safety hazards (e.g., broken toys, unsafe surfaces)
- Properly prepare, label, and store cleaning solutions
Team Collaboration & Communication
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuing education
- Collaborate with teachers, supervisors, and program leadership
- Support smooth transitions for children and communication with families
Program Support & Compliance
- Adhere to licensing and accrediting body requirements
- Support program goals emphasizing child autonomy and family involvement
- Assist with special projects and additional responsibilities as needed
Education Requirements:
Required:
- Associate degree (2-year) in Early Childhood Education, Child Psychology, or related field
OR - High School Diploma with minimum 40 hours of coursework in early childhood education or related field
OR - Equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education
Certifications:
Required:
- N/A
Preferred:
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification
