Job Description
Title- Systems Engineer 5
Location- Everett, WA
Duration- 6 Months
Job description
The 777-9 Systems Integration team is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to serve as a systems engineering integration focal in Everett, WA. This role will lead interdisciplinary, cross-functional activities to plan, design, develop and verify complex, lifecycle-balanced system-of-systems solutions that directly support 777-9 certification and entry-into-service objectives.
Position Overview:
The Senior Systems Engineer will support Systems IPT projects and initiatives critical to achieving 777-9 Amended Type Certification (ATC) and Entry Into Service (EIS). The role will lead and coordinate multi-discipline technical integration across organizations to manage system architecture, interfaces, and certification-related technical risks and opportunities. The engineer will be accountable for one or more projects and will provide technical, requirements-based leadership on issues that require cross-functional stakeholder alignment. The candidate will apply an interdisciplinary approach, develop trade space and integrate stakeholders from many systems engineering disciplines to ensure mission success.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Lead special projects and initiatives to progress systems maturity towards 777-9 type certification (ATC) and entry into service (EIS) including development and execution of integrated plans that balance technical, safety, cost, schedule and certification constraints.
• Define, decompose and maintain system requirements; lead requirements management activities, traceability, verification planning, and configuration control across system boundaries.
• Lead cross-functional teams to evaluate technical issues, integrate technical parameters, and assure compatibility of physical, functional and program interfaces across subsystems and supplier organizations.
• Lead analyses to optimize total system architecture, including affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, and certification considerations.
• Identify, quantify and manage technical risks, issues and opportunities across the systems design teams; lead development and implementation of technical risk mitigation
• Lead detailed technical investigations and verification activities to ensure system integration and regulatory/certification compliance; define remediation plans and drive closure with engineering, suppliers and certification authorities.
• Communicate routinely with internal and external stakeholders — including IPT peers, executive leadership, suppliers and regulators — to align technical strategy, status, tradeoffs and certification posture.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
• 15+ years of experience performing complex engineering or system integration work
• 8+ years of experience in leading and/or managing complex projects
• 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with senior executives, customers, stakeholders, peers and business partners
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
• 10+ years of experience with Transport, client 7-Series and/or McDonnell Douglas Aircraft
• 5+ years of experience with US and/or foreign aircraft certification/regulatory processes
• Experience leading major design changes through multiple phases of product and certification lifecycle
• Certification and/or experience working with FAA regulations and Regulatory Administration
•Project Management exposure / experience (e.g., Project Management Body of Knowledge [PMBOK], ANSI/PMI 99-001-2008)
