Job Title: Systems Test Engineer (5G/LTE Protocol Testing)
Location: San Diego California  100% Onsite
Duration : 24 Months
Work Schedule: 40 hours/week (5 days, 8 hours/day)

Overview
Join an engineering team in intellectual property (IP) department which develops setups to test a wide  variety of commercially available mobile products. In addition to designing and executing common 5G NR / LTE protocol stack test scenarios, the ideal candidate will have a strong interest in unconventional approaches to call scenario  development and mobile device testing, enjoy working in a lab environment and have an affinity to develop practical test solutions. Candidates must have a proven track record in 3GPP protocol analysis and related troubleshooting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required as well as great interest in new technologies.

Major responsibilities include:

• Detailed test plan generation based on high level test requirements provided by systems engineering
• Development of call scenarios across various cellular air interfaces to test commercially available mobile products
• Protocol testing in a LAB environment
• Post-processing, analyzing and presenting test results to engineering and legal teams
• 3GPP standard and specification research
• Identification of applicable GCF tests to show 3GPP standard compliance

Required Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field + 4 years of relevant experience
• OR Master’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Systems Test Engineering or related work experience.
• OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Test Engineering or related work experience.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Must Have

• - 5G NR (3GPP Release 15), LTE FDD/TDD
• - 5G NR (NSA/SA), LTE protocol stacks including PHY/ MAC/ RLC/ PDCP/ RRC/ NAS/ Upper layers
• 8-12 years of industry experience in the following areas required:
• - Call scenario development (5G NR / LTE) for Keysight E7515B (UXM 5G) using PRT and / or Test App
• - Programming skills in Python/ Matlab
• - Test equipment such as spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, UE power analyzer

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Must Have

• - 5G NR (3GPP Release 15), LTE FDD/TDD
• - 5G NR (NSA/SA), LTE protocol stacks including PHY/ MAC/ RLC/ PDCP/ RRC/ NAS/ Upper layers
• 8-12 years of industry experience in the following areas required:

Nice To Have

• Additional skills in the following areas are a plus:
• Experience in 802.11 ac /a/b/g/n standards and various WIFI/BT features
• Knowledge of Qualcomm QXDM, MTP provisioning and testing - Analysis tools such as Wireshark
• Prior exposure to patents and intellectual property (IP) analysis
