Position Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Work Location: Minnesota, MN, 55117
Assignment Duration: 11+ months
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm
Work Arrangement: 100% onsite
Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer will serve as a front line engineering resource supporting daily production operations within a manufacturing environment.
This role works closely with machine operators, technicians, and supervisors to troubleshoot equipment and process issues, applying structured engineering problem solving methodologies to ensure safe, stable, and efficient production.
In addition to real time production support, the Manufacturing Engineer will lead and manage projects focused on the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
This position plays a critical role in meeting daily production schedules while driving improvements in productivity, quality, and cost.
Key Responsibilities:
Production & Operational Support
- Act as a front line manufacturing engineer, working directly with machine operators to troubleshoot equipment, tooling, and process issues during daily operations.
- Support the operations team by applying structured engineering problem solving tools (e.g., root cause analysis, data analysis, corrective action).
Process & Equipment Engineering
- Lead and support engineering projects related to:
- Production equipment upgrades
- Process improvements
- Tooling and fixture design
- Cost reduction initiatives
- Coordinate the design, procurement, build, installation, and debug of tooling, fixtures, machinery, and test equipment.
- Collaborate with Maintenance and external suppliers to ensure equipment reliability and readiness.
Validation & Regulatory Support
- Plan, execute, and document Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) activities for new or modified manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Develop validation protocols and reports in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure validated processes consistently meet production, quality, and compliance requirements.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Support process validations, control plans, and continuous monitoring to ensure robust process performance.
- Drive improvements in product quality, labor efficiency, and throughput through the application of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, technicians, and operators.
- Collaborate cross functionally with Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Product Development.
- Partner with Product Development to support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) during new product introduction and design changes.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor Science or Bachelor Engineering, Electrical, Software, or Mechanical Engineering.
- The individual will typically have had a minimum 2-5 years experience in an engineering discipline or advanced education to achieve the level of skill.
