Position Title: Phlebotomist II

Location: Trinity, FL (Patient Service Center – PSC)
Duration: 3+ months 
Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Work Type: Onsite
Hours: Part-time (30 hours/week)

Position Summary:

The Phlebotomist II will support daily operations within a Patient Service Center (PSC), including specimen collection, processing, troubleshooting, and workflow recommendations. This role requires strong technical skills and the ability to work efficiently in a patient-focused environment.

Background / Context:

• Coverage for staffing shortage / FMLA leave
• Potential for extension or conversion based on performance and experience

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifugation, and processing
• Collect and store specimens per established procedures
• Clearly explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes to patients
• Demonstrate proficiency with straight needles and butterfly needles
• Review and verify physician orders and lab requisitions
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required
• Ensure accuracy of test requisitions and specimen labeling
• Package and prepare specimens for transport
• Maintain specimen integrity by following temperature and handling protocols
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
• Participate in required training sessions
• Handle patient interactions, including answering calls and providing lab-related information
• Perform blood draws and processing in a PSC setting with basic computer usage

Qualifications & Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
• At least 3 years of blood draw experience (required per notes)
• Valid Phlebotomy certification (as required by state)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong patient interaction and communication skills

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

• Standing for most of the day
• Patient Service Center (PSC) environment
• Team-based setting (not working alone)
• 2–3 weeks of training (1st week computer-based, followed by hands-on training)

Additional Information:

• Daily volume: 30–40 draws (all age groups)
• Strong patient-focused approach required
• Vaccinations: TB required; Hep B offered (can decline)
• Color vision test required
