Job Description
Position: Onsite Medical Representative / Emergency Medical Technician
Duration: 6 Months
Location: Guard Shack, North Division Street, Davenport, IA
Shift Schedule:
- FHD Training: Sunday – Wednesday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- FHN: Sunday – Wednesday, 6:00 PM – 4:30 AM
Role Overview:
The Onsite Medical Representative (OMR) serves as the site’s designated first aid provider and supports the Global Safety Program. The OMR provides first aid care, assesses potential safety hazards, participates in Workers’ Compensation processes, and recommends risk mitigation measures to management. The role integrates into the broader onsite safety team, assisting with overall health and safety initiatives, attending safety meetings, and supporting new hire orientations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide triage, first-aid, and referrals to outside medical providers as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of care and manage first-aid inventory and equipment.
- Recommend accommodations for employees with medical restrictions.
- Prepare daily activity logs for the safety and senior leadership teams.
- Conduct monthly incident analysis, including recommendations to reduce risk and injury severity.
- Engage with associates and managers on the floor, providing coaching on at-risk work habits.
- Attend and contribute to daily start-up meetings and weekly safety committee meetings.
- Understand department-specific tasks and body mechanics to support safety improvements.
- Initiate and manage Workers’ Compensation cases as necessary.
- Update the health and safety communication board with tips and updates.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Strong communication skills to relay health and safety needs across organizational levels.
- Ability to maintain composure in emergency situations.
Basic Qualifications:
- Valid State EMT-Basic Certification and/or National Registry of EMT (NREMT) certification.
- 2 years of experience providing pre-hospital emergency services.
- Valid CPR certification (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers or Professional Rescuer).
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Flexibility to work days, nights, and/or weekends.
- Maintain all medical credentials.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified to teach First-Aid, CPR, and AED.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Experience in team leadership and management.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910.
- Experience with Workers’ Compensation processes.
