Location: Chicago, IL, United States (Hybrid)

Job Description:
Project Overview: We are seeking a senior Java Developer responsible for designing, developing, testing and deploying software on cloud-based applications.
Contractor’s Role: You should be comfortable with back-end coding languages, development frameworks, and third-party libraries with an emphasis on JAVA, Spring Boot and Pivotal Cloud Foundry. Contractor will be a key member of a cross functional team following Agile development methodologies.
Specializes in full stack development and implementing end-to-end components of custom applications. Involves designing and developing the UI, business logic, data & integration layer along with testing and maintenance of these layers. Creating, querying & manipulating databases, APIs and integration, Front-end code (HTML/CSS, bootstrap, React JS, Angular JS) and web stack back-end technologies (PHP, Python, Java/J2EE, ruby on rails etc.).
Uses specific knowledge of a discipline to achieve goals through own work. Has specific knowledge or expertise typically gained through formal education or equivalent experience. Uses expertise to provide guidance to others as a project manager or consultant. Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines. Solves complex problems. Works independently; receives minimal guidance. May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for on-going activities or objectives. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience
 
Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience in application development experience using Java, Cloud.
• Experience of working on Cloud based – Java applications
• Prior experience of modernizing legacy applications to a strategic cloud-based micro service application
• Experience in development of Java J2EE applications
• Application integration using API, REST and SOAP web services
• Experience with Service Oriented Architecture and cloud-based services, preferably PCF
• Working knowledge of DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines
• Understanding of OAuth 2.0, Ping Federate, ZScaler
• Database/Stored Procedure experience preferably with DB2, Oracle >= 11g versions
• Knowledge of code version control tools – Github, Bitbucket, GitLab, etc
• Desired experience with Spring, Web services, APIs such as JDBC, Hibernate, Eclipse IDE
• Experience in messaging gateways – Kafka, Solace, MQ
• Cloud Computing concepts and deployment; PCF (Pivotal Cloud Foundry), AWS (Amazon Web Services), Microsoft Azure etc.
• Experience working in onsite/offshore model
• Experience with production code migrations
• Experience working in Agile methodologies
• Experience working with production support and business teams
 
Knowledge :
• Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines
• Experience in developing Microservice applications
• Experience in developing applications using Spring boot, Spring MVC and Spring Security
• Experience in developing Azure functions
• Experience in writing the Junit test cases
• Experience in bamboo CI/CD
• Knowledge in SecuPi would be an added advantage
• Experience in developing UI/React apps
• Experience integrating applications with various database platforms on-prem and in the Cloud
• Applies best practices and how own area integrates with others
• Is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
• Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus

• Document the technical/business functionality of the software developed.
• Prepare production readiness checklists.
• Immediately raise any questions or concerns with clients technical lead to avoid any impact to the project deliverables and timelines.
• Ensure that non-functional requirements such as security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability are being considered when developing solutions.
