Schedule

• Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
• Work 1-2 weekends or holidays every 3 months, with comp days

 
Position Overview
The Controlled Environments Team seeks a motivated and responsible Greenhouse Technician to support research operations at our four-acre facility in Johnston, Iowa. In this role, you will contribute to the advancement of agricultural innovation by supporting daily greenhouse functions and research activities in a safe, professional, and compliant environment.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Diligently shoot bag in corn pollination rooms daily
• Tassel bag and pollinate corn 1-2 times per week
• Prep and sort plant groupings with a high level of attention to detail
• Transfer large plants on carts to correct room locations and specific locations within a room
• Perform routine greenhouse sanitation tasks like discarding regulated material
• Assist with plant care tasks, such as cotton pruning
• Drive the Tug to move plants throughout the facility

 
Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required
• Bachelor's degree in agriculture, horticulture, plant sciences, or a related field preferred
• Two or more years of relevant experience preferred
• Valid Driver’s License required
• Good communication skills, a high degree of self-motivation, positive attitude, attention to detail
• Works well independently and with minimal supervision but also works well in groups
• The ability to drive company vehicles, such as a tug
• Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to learn internal research software
• Capability to perform repetitive tasks, stand or sit for extended periods, and lift at least 30 lbs
• Comfort working in warm, humid greenhouse conditions with year-round pollen exposure
• The client has a very strong safety culture and implements safety in everything they do. You must follow all safety protocols and monitor ergonomics.
