Primary Function / Primary Goals / Objectives
The Scrum Master / Software Delivery Lead acts as the primary facilitator for agile software teams, coordinating delivery efforts and ensuring alignment between business goals and technical execution. This role is responsible for removing obstacles, supporting continuous improvement, and fostering an environment for high-performing teams. The position partners closely with product owners, technical leads, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions, on schedule and within scope.
Knowledge / Skills
• Maintain strong understanding of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and software development life cycles.
• Demonstrate expertise in facilitating sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Possess deep knowledge of product backlog management, release planning, and user story refinement.
• Exhibit leadership in conflict resolution, team motivation, and stakeholder management.
• Demonstrate clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects to enhance productivity and meet delivery timelines.
• Foster a collaborative, transparent, and inclusive team culture.
• Adapt quickly in a fast-paced, constantly evolving technical environment.
Project/Process Management
• Guide teams in the adoption and improvement of agile practices.
• Collaborate with product owners, technical staff, and business stakeholders to ensure requirements are well-defined and prioritized.
• Track team progress and manage delivery timelines, proactively identifying and addressing risks or blockers.
• Ensure communication flows seamlessly across cross-functional teams.
• Monitor and report on sprint metrics, velocity, and release progress to leadership.
• Champion continuous improvement through retrospectives and actionable feedback.
• Support the team in meeting quality standards and compliance requirements.
Accountability / Scope
• Reports to Software Delivery Associate Director.
• Partners with product management, engineering, and Compliance teams.
• Accountable for successful delivery of software projects, adherence to agile best practices, and meeting business objectives.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with company-wide development and security standards.
• Maintains high visibility and acts as a trusted advisor to team members and stakeholders.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Agile certification(s) (CSM, PSM, or equivalent) highly desirable.
• Minimum of 3-5+ years of experience in software delivery, with at least 1 year serving as a Scrum Master or Agile Lead.
• Proven track record delivering complex software solutions in both enterprise and startup environments.
• Strong familiarity with collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, etc.).
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and organizational skills.
• High-energy, positive, and organized individual comfortable in a highly visible and fast-paced role.
• Exceptional collaborator with a keen eye for both strategic direction and operational detail.
