Position Title: Phlebotomist II
Address: USA - TX - Katy - 21402 Provincial Boulevard
Orientation- Main lab 7207 N Gessner Road Houston TX 7704, (for at least 4 days) then to location to train
Assignment Duration: 3-Month Contract (Potential for Conversion)
Work Schedule: MON-THURS 8AM-5 FRI 8AM-12PM
Vaccines: Hep B (Candidate can decline Hep B), TB, color vision is required.
Position Summary:
The Phlebotomist II will be responsible for performing blood draws and specimen collection while supporting daily operations at a Patient Service Center (PSC). This role includes assisting with workflow, troubleshooting, and ensuring accurate specimen handling and patient interaction.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipunctures (blood draws) using straight and butterfly needles
- Collect, label, centrifuge, process, and store specimens according to established procedures
- Ensure accurate patient identification and specimen labeling
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes
- Prepare and package specimens for transport while maintaining specimen integrity
- Explain procedures clearly to patients, including blood draw and other specimen collections (urine, fecal, etc.)
- Update patient information and enter data into the system
- Maintain equipment and record maintenance data, including decontamination
- Follow protocols for specimen handling, including freezing and temperature requirements
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations
- Assist with answering phone calls and responding to patient or lab inquiries
- Support general lab operations and workflow as needed
Qualifications & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2-4 years of experience in phlebotomy
- Minimum 6 months of experience performing venipuncture in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
- Valid phlebotomy certification (as required by state)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong phlebotomy skills, including experience with difficult draws
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Flexible and able to work in a team environment
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
- Majority of shift spent standing (with a 30-minute break)
- Medium-sized Patient Service Center
- Team-oriented work environment
- One week of training prior to starting the role

How many weeks of training is required at the start of this role? Depends on how quick they learn – 1 system for touch. About 1 week.
