Job Title: Ethics and Compliance Lead
Location: Warren, NJ
Duration: 4 Months


Description:

The E&C lead for North America will be responsible for ensuring that the company's operations adhere to relevant compliance laws, regulations, internal policies and meets regulatory expectations. The role holder will act as a strategic advisor (especially to the legal team, OU lead and management team), to proactively create and maintain a culture of compliance. This role is critical in partnering with legal to maintain the company's reputation, to mitigate compliance risks, and empower the business across the OU to achieve its strategic growth objectives, while adhering to law/regulation and ethical business practices. This role holder will report to the Chief Compliance Officer.

Key responsibilities:
The E&C lead for North America will undertake the following:
  • Compliance strategy- Drive the implementation of the compliance strategy for the OU, while reflecting (where necessary) local law specificities (obtaining input from local legal, as necessary).
  • Policy implementation- Oversee the implementation of compliance policies (CoC, ABAC, competition law, privacy and sanctions) and procedures in the OU, working with local legal to ensure they are in line with global standards.
  • Risk assessment- Conduct regular risk assessments (in line with the ERM framework) to identify potential, emerging compliance risks and work with local legal and leadership to develop associated risk mitigation strategies/plans.
  • Training and awareness - Work with legal to develop and deliver supplementary training (over and above the global mandatory training program), to higher-risk employees.
  • Monitoring and assurance - Drive a robust risk-based compliance monitoring system across the OU, to proactively identify and prevent compliance violations. Conduct regular compliance monitoring and assurance activities to identify emerging issues and ensure adherence to compliance policies and procedures.
  • Investigations- Lead relevant compliance investigations in the OU, undertake root cause analysis to identify any systemic issues that should be addressed, and report findings to global investigation and local disciplinary committees. They will ensure the insights gained from these investigations are used to drive continual improvement in the global compliance program.

Qualifications and skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, or a related field.
  • 10+ years proven experience in compliance, legal, or internal control roles within a global healthcare or consumer goods organization, in the region.
  • Expert level understanding of regional healthcare industry regulations and international compliance standards.
  • Experience driving the compliance agenda, in a complex, multi-regulatory, environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence individuals at all levels of the organization to work in accordance with values.
  • Strong leadership and business partnering skills.
  • Act with the highest degree of personal integrity, able to maintain confidentiality and trust in sensitive compliance matters.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English. Additional languages would be beneficial.
