Job Description:
Seeking a Principal Visual Experience Designer to help shape the next generation of experiences across the Forma Industry Cloud’s Construction products.
Visual Experience Designers specialize in crafting elegant, highly refined interfaces that bring clarity, cohesion, and delight to complex professional software. In this role, you will lead visual design for key Construction platform initiatives, helping define and align core Forma experiences including Navigation and Project Home for browser and mobile devices, as well modernizing workflows in Forma Data Management and Forma Admin.
This role requires a visual design specialist with exceptional craft, strong communication skills, and the ability to clearly articulate the impact of visual design decisions. You will collaborate closely with UX designers, product managers, and engineers to deliver cohesive, high-quality platform experiences.
Responsibilities
• Lead the visual craft of key platform experiences, designing polished, high-quality interfaces that elevate the standard of Construction products.
• Define and align core platform experiences, including Navigation and Project Home, with the Forma design direction.
• Improve usability and cohesion within Forma Data Management and Forma Admin workflows.
• Communicate design rationale clearly and persuasively to cross-functional partners, advocating for thoughtful visual design decisions.
• Contribute to a unified platform experience by aligning UI patterns with design system standards and simplifying fragmented UI patterns across products.
• Engage as an active member of an exciting, diverse, and global design community.
Minimum Qualifications
• 8+ years of professional experience in visual design, product design, or UX/UI design
• Exceptional visual design craft, including expert use of typography, layout, hierarchy, color, and composition
• Demonstrated ability to deliver high-polish production UI for complex software products
• Experience designing mobile and responsive product experiences
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain design rationale and influence stakeholders
• Experience collaborating with product managers, engineers, and UX designers to ship production software
• Portfolio demonstrating visually refined, high-quality interface design for complex products
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience contributing to or working within design systems
• Experience aligning or consolidating multiple UI frameworks into a cohesive platform experience
• Familiarity with Autodesk products or experience in AEC, construction, or enterprise software
Top 3 “must haves”:
Visual Design, UX/UI Design, Mobile Design
Interview Process: round 1: 45 min phone call, get to know you and a brief look at a work sample
Round 2: 1hr portfolio review with myself and a couple other people they’d be working with, followed by 30 minute 1:1s with those same panelist to discuss the work in more detail
