Job Title: Senior Project Engineer
Location: Fremont, CA 94538 (Onsite)
Duration: 9 Months Contract
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday | Standard Business Hours
Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead and support the execution of complex engineering initiatives with a strong focus on change management, RFID technology deployment, and telecom-related environments. This role will drive project planning, field coordination, and process optimization while working closely with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
The ideal candidate will bring experience in RFID systems, field operations, and telecom infrastructure, along with the ability to manage evolving workflows in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
Top Priorities

Change Management – Drive adoption of new processes and tools across field teams

RFID Technology Deployment – Implement and optimize RFID systems and infrastructure

Telecom Experience – Leverage telecom domain knowledge for system integration and operations
Key Responsibilities
-
Engage daily with field technicians and material leads to develop and implement workflows for gas and electric meter check-in/check-out processes

Partner with software vendors to enhance applications based on technician feedback and evolving business needs

Ensure RFID readers, antennas, and handheld devices are operational; coordinate with internal/external teams for troubleshooting and improvements

Collaborate with metering OEMs to enable shipment of new meters with RFID tagging

Lead existing meter tagging efforts across multiple yard locations

Act as the primary point of contact for RFP-related activities and support yard expansion initiatives (San Carlos – H2 2026)

Own and drive execution of aggressive project milestones across crawl, walk, and run phases

Partner with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, supply chain, and field teams

Manage project timelines, risks, dependencies, and reporting
Safety Responsibilities

Maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety for self and team members

Proactively identify and resolve unsafe conditions or practices

Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or related field)

5–10+ years of experience in project engineering / project management

Hands-on experience with RFID systems (readers, antennas, handheld devices)

Experience in telecom, utilities, or field operations environments

Strong background in change management and process implementation

Proven ability to work with field teams and external vendors

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in utilities (gas/electric metering) or infrastructure projects

Exposure to RFP processes and vendor coordination
-
Familiarity with hardware deployment and asset tracking systems

PMP or similar certification is a plus
