Position Title: Phlebotomist II

Location: 312 Line Ave, Inverness, FL
Duration: 91 Days
Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Possible Saturday rotation)

Position Summary

The Phlebotomist II is responsible for performing blood collection and specimen processing while assisting with troubleshooting, training, and workflow improvements in a fast-paced patient service environment.

Background & Context

This role is supporting short-handed coverage at a Patient Service Center (PSC).

---

Key Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture using straight needles and butterfly needles

• Collect, label, centrifuge, split, and store specimens according to established procedures

• Accurately match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes

• Verify all test requisitions and labels to ensure 100% accuracy

• Package specimens for transport while maintaining proper storage conditions

• Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures

• Update and maintain accurate patient information

• Clearly explain specimen collection procedures to patients

• Handle additional specimen collections (urine, fecal, etc.) as required

• Understand and follow physicians’ orders

• Ensure compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations

• Attend required training sessions

• Answer calls and provide lab-related information when needed

• Guide patients through the facility and assist with overall workflow

Work Environment & Expectations

• Patient Service Center (PSC) with 3 draw rooms

• Team-based environment working with a Lead

• Expected to perform 30–40 draws per day

• Majority of the shift spent standing

• Initial training period of 1–3 weeks

Qualifications & Experience

• Valid Phlebotomy Certification (if required by state)

• Minimum 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting

• 2–4 years of overall experience preferred

• High School Diploma or GED

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Additional Requirements

• Vaccinations: TB required; Flu and Hep B offered (can decline)

• Color vision required

• Full-time role (40 hours/week)
