Job Title: Pharmacy Informatics Specialist – MEDITECH Magic
Duration: 6+ months
Location: 100% Remote
Summary
The Pharmacy Informatics Specialist acts as the bridge between pharmacy operations, clinical workflows, and MEDITECH Magic. This role ensures safe, compliant, and optimized use of Magic pharmacy modules to support medication management, patient safety, and operational efficiency across inpatient and ambulatory settings.
Top Responsibilities
• Maintain and optimize MEDITECH Magic pharmacy dictionaries, drug files, formularies, and order sets (RXM/RX).
• Configure and support CPOE medication orders, pharmacy verification workflows, and MAR functionality.
• Build and maintain clinical decision support (DDI checks, allergy alerts, dose-range checks, renal dosing).
• Analyze pharmacy workflows and adjust Magic modules to improve integration with nursing, lab, and billing.
• Lead build validation, integrated testing, and UAT for medication-related changes.
• Ensure system design aligns with CMS, Joint Commission, and state pharmacy regulatory requirements.
• Create training materials and provide ongoing support to pharmacists and clinical end users.
• Support downtime planning, upgrades, and change management activities.
• Generate/analyze reports for medication safety, diversion monitoring, and quality metrics.
• Provide SME guidance for medication master file governance, formulary standardization, and charge accuracy.
Core Skills & Competencies (Highlighted)
• Expert knowledge of MEDITECH Magic (RXM, OE, PHA, MIS).
• Medication dictionary & formulary management including NDC mapping.
• Strong grasp of medication data standards: RxNorm, SNOMED CT™, ICD 10, CPT/HCPCS, CVX.
• Acute care & ambulatory pharmacy workflow expertise.
• Integration experience with pharmacy automation (dispensing cabinets, IV compounding, BCMA).
• Troubleshooting medication order flow across modules.
• Analytical, project management, and stakeholder communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in high acuity healthcare environments.
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree, PharmD, or equivalent background in pharmacy, clinical informatics, or healthcare IT.
• Pharmacy background strongly preferred.
