ROLE SUMMARY
Seeking a Data Bearing Device (DBD) Security Operations Analyst to support intake requests and operational needs within the IDC Security & Compliance team. This role is responsible for day-to-day triage, device state investigations, and cross-functional coordination across data center operations, logistics, and engineering teams.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Information Security, Data Center Operations, or related field.
5+ years of experience in:

Hardware lifecycle management
TOP 3 MUST-HAVE HARD SKILLS

Deep familiarity with NIST SP 800-88 Rev.1 media sanitization (Clear, Purge, Destroy) and practical application across drive types.

Hands-on experience designing or operating secure media sanitization processes, including verification steps and certificates of destruction.

Experience with chain-of-custody controls for media from decommission through verified destruction.
CORE SKILLS

Understanding of data bearing device lifecycles (deployment, sanitization, destruction, reuse)

Familiarity with sanitization methods: cryptographic erase, secure erase, overwrite, and physical destruction

Experience with asset tracking, inventory management, and chain-of-custody systems

Strong investigative and analytical skills

Ability to research device history across multiple data sources

Clear written communication and documentation skills

Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent requests

TYPICAL DAY IN THE ROLE

Triage intake requests involving data bearing devices (media moves, exception reviews, sanitization status)

Investigate device state using internal tools (SeRF, StrongBox, IBOS, PWM)

Query provisioning history, chain-of-custody records, sanitization status, and inventory state
-
Determine whether requests require escalation to the IDC Security team
-
Document investigation findings aligned with policies, international standards, and industry best practices
-
Coordinate with data center operations, logistics, and engineering teams
-
Track open requests through resolution
-
Support compliance verification for sanitization and destruction processes
-
Identify recurring request patterns and gaps in documentation, tooling, or processes
