Job Description
Summary
This is a laboratory-based position within the Vaccines Early BioProcess Analytical Development group. The role involves performing routine sample testing, analytical method development, and assay qualification studies in support of early vaccine development. Assays include, but are not limited to, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) and other plate-based testing. This is a dynamic role supporting fast-moving and high-visibility projects.
 
Job Responsibilities
Under direct supervision, the individual will:

• Perform routine sample testing in support of vaccine development, including bioprocess and formulation development, release testing, stability studies, characterization, and adjuvant compatibility studies.
• Independently perform required calculations and discuss results and conclusions with the manager.
• Document experiments and analyze data from sample testing and method development/qualification studies using an electronic laboratory notebook, with guidance as needed.
• Contribute to the preparation of technical documentation, including development reports, analytical test methods, and method qualification reports.
• Review scientific and technical literature to remain current in the field.
• Provide daily laboratory operations and support activities.

 
Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Biology or a related discipline
• 0–2 years of relevant laboratory experience
• Basic understanding of antibody–antigen interactions and bioassay analytical techniques
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with personal computers, including word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and relevant scientific software

 
Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with plate-based immunoassays (e.g., ELISA)
• Experience with laboratory automation systems (e.g., Hamilton STAR)
• Experience documenting work using electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN)
