Float Phlebotomist II

Duration: 3 Months
Location: Will be floating to two sites:
1st address: 7600 North West 23rd Street Bethany OK
2nd address: 6501 Northeast 50th Oklahoma City OK 73141
Will also drive to Cedar Ridge to draw
Shift Hours: 6am - 11am or until done Mon - Fri
Vaccines required: RHepatitis B RTB
Ped/ Ger

Position Summary

The primary function of the Phlebotomist II is to perform blood collection and specimen processing while assisting with troubleshooting, training, and workflow recommendations in a fast-paced laboratory setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures using straight needles and butterfly needles

• Collect blood and other specimens (urine, fecal, etc.) according to established procedures

• Label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens as required

• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately

• Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy

• Store specimens at appropriate temperatures to maintain integrity

• Prepare specimens for transport following protocol requirements

• Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures

• Update patient information accurately

• Clearly and courteously explain specimen collection procedures to patients

• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations

• Attend annual department trainings

• Answer telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy Certification (if required by state)

• Minimum 6 months of venipuncture experience in a hospital or fast-paced laboratory setting

• 2–4 years of related experience preferred

• High School Diploma or GED

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
