Inventory Cost Accountant (Entry-Level)
Type: Direct Hire/Perm
Location: Johns Creek, GA (Onsite – 5 Days a Week)
Interview Process: 2 Steps (1st round phone screen)
Reports To: Manager of Cost Accounting
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Inventory Cost Accountant to join our Cost Accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1–2 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment who is looking to grow their career in cost accounting.
This role supports inventory valuation, cost analysis, and financial reporting across multiple manufacturing divisions. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, audit-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with inventory accounting, costing, and reconciliations
- Support standard cost updates and variance analysis
- Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close
- Analyze inventory transactions and investigate discrepancies
- Partner with operations and plant teams on cost-related inquiries
- Support internal and external audits (multiple audits annually)
- Maintain accuracy of cost data within ERP system
- Assist with system/process improvements related to inventory and cost accounting
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- 0–2 years of accounting experience (internship experience acceptable)
- Exposure to cost accounting or inventory accounting preferred
- Manufacturing experience strongly preferred (plant or front-office manufacturing environment acceptable)
- Basic understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles
- Strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP required)
- ERP experience required; JD Edwards strongly preferred
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-starter with a desire to learn and grow
- Internship in manufacturing, distribution, or public accounting
- Exposure to inventory costing or standard costing
- CPA eligible or pursuing CPA
- Experience supporting audits
