Data Analyst – CMMS Work Order Backlog Support
Position Summary
Seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Data Analyst to support the review, validation, and closure of maintenance work orders within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). This role focuses on improving data accuracy, reducing system backlog, and supporting operational efficiency within a utilities environment.
The selected candidate will work closely with internal teams to review historical work orders, validate asset and completion data, and ensure proper status updates in the system. This is a hands-on, operational data role requiring strong Excel skills, attention to detail, and the ability to quickly learn business processes.

Contract Details
- Employment Type: Contract
- Initial Duration: Approximately 3 months (potential extension based on business needs)
- Work Arrangement: Onsite or hybrid preferred; remote may be considered for the right candidate
- Onboarding Requirement: Initial onsite presence required for training, system access, and process alignment
- Location Preference: Candidates located within reasonable commuting distance preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Review, analyze, and process historical maintenance work orders in the CMMS
- Identify work orders that require closure, cancellation, reassignment, or additional review
- Validate completion status against field reports and supporting documentation
- Reconcile inconsistencies between work order status and completion records
- Review parent and child work order relationships and determine required actions
- Extract and analyze system data using CSV exports
- Perform data validation against asset information and supporting geographic records
- Collaborate with internal operational teams to confirm work status and next steps
- Apply bulk updates and system field value changes when appropriate
- Support backlog reduction initiatives and improve system data integrity
- Maintain accurate documentation of decisions and updates
Technical Environment

Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including:
- Pivot Tables
- VLOOKUP / XLOOKUP
- COUNTIF / SUMIF
- Data filtering and validation
- Experience working with structured data and spreadsheets
- Ability to export, manipulate, and analyze CSV files
- Comfortable navigating web-based systems and interfaces
- General computer proficiency (Windows, file management, online tools)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Ability to learn new systems quickly
- Proactive mindset and curiosity in identifying data issues
- Ability to follow structured processes while exercising independent judgment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Reliable and organized work approach
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with maintenance, asset, or infrastructure data
- Exposure to utilities, engineering, construction, or field operations environments
- Familiarity with geographic or asset-based data systems
- Experience with data cleanup, reconciliation, or backlog reduction projects
- Prior experience supporting operational or maintenance workflows
