Job Title: Histotechnician I
? Location: 1 Shircliff Way, Jacksonville, FL 32204
? Duration: 3+ Months
? Shift: 2nd Shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM)
Position Summary
The Histotechnician will perform routine and specialized paraffin histotechnology duties within a state-of-the-art, CAP-certified pathology laboratory. Under the supervision of a Senior or Lead Histotechnologist, this role is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic materials within established turnaround times.
Key Responsibilities

Embed, cut, stain, and process tissue samples in the Immunohistochemistry laboratory

Perform accurate gross descriptions of tissue specimens

Conduct quality control procedures and maintain detailed records

Operate laboratory instruments/equipment per established SOPs and identify technical issues

Meet turnaround time and productivity standards

Identify testing discrepancies and assist in resolution

Record, transcribe, and maintain patient test results per protocol

Review results for accuracy and completeness before releasing in the Laboratory Information System

Complete routine and STAT testing within required timelines
Required Qualifications

Associate degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or related life science

Formal Histology training from an accredited program (minimum 720 hours)

State licensure where applicable (FL license required)

Meets CLIA personnel standards

Skills in microtomy, grossing, tissue processing, embedding, cutting, and routine/special staining

0–2 years of relevant experience
