Work type: Hybrid (2 days per week onsite)
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Global Payroll Partner is responsible for applying their expertise to payroll processing, time tracking, and payroll systems related activities. Incumbent analyzes, develops, and recommends payroll and system controls for all tasks necessary to accomplish the organization's payroll processing objectives, including guiding relationships with internal and external vendors and global tax authorities.
Most of the time is spent on independent analysis, process improvement, issue resolution and recommending best practices for payroll functions and related services.
This role will report directly to Global Payroll Director and will align the global payroll processes to deliver a secure, integrated payroll process with complete documentation, process, and controls.
Responsibilities:
• Critically review and analyze current payroll procedures and recommend, develop, and streamline process to develop a high-performing Global Payroll Department
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders in aligning and implementing payroll rules, policies, and procedures.
• Provide superior customer service to employees, managers, tax authorities, and third parties to resolve all payroll inquiries.
• Ensures the Global Payroll Department is fully trained and functioning at a high level of performance.
• Develop and update process documents and training materials as needed and provide training to the Payroll Team and Time Approvers
• Leads the management of the time & payroll system and its ancillary services; including data audits to ensure data integrity, system configuration, scheduled and ad-hoc reporting, basic to advanced programming and system troubleshooting.
• Responsible for leading the end-to-end payroll implementations to streamline and improve existing processes.
• Serve as a liaison between internal/external customers and the functional team members to ensure effective definition of and delivery of Workday.
• Analyze problems and escalate issues in a timely manner for quick resolution.
• Foster and maintain positive relationships with Workday’s constituents, including senior management, and end-users.
• Promote proactive approaches using Workday to solve business needs/problems, while also enhancing the understanding and acceptance of the Workday’s capabilities.
Education and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration or related field
• A minimum of 8+ years of progressive payroll experience
• Must have experience with Workday
• Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into operational requirements
• Experience with the implementation of end-to-end payroll processing and compliance solutions for multi-site and/or international organizations.
Preferred Skills/Competencies:
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation a plus
• Experience with complex payroll issues: multi-region setups, short- and long-term disability, general benefit knowledge, garnishments, etc.
• Accounting knowledge and understanding of accounting principles is an asset.
• Manufacturing industry experience is an asset
• Experience in implementing payroll systems
• Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
• Experience with oversight and auditing of payroll and payroll tax laws.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and able to communicate at multiple levels of the organization.
• Must be flexible, work well under pressure, and have the ability to readily adapt to change.
• Strong computer skills and technical capabilities in MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook), Concur and Workday
