Job Title: Payroll Accountant
Duration: 6.5 Months Assignment
Location: Boise, ID 83716
Shift/Hour: 40 hours per week, M-F
Work Model: Onsite
 
Summary:
  • Client is seeking a detail oriented and technically skilled Senior Payroll Analyst to support our U.S. payroll operations.
  • In this role, you will be a key resource for employees, HR, and business partners by resolving payroll inquiries, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, and supporting system improvements.
  • You will also participate in special projects, system testing, and initiatives that enhance payroll accuracy, compliance, and overall employee experience.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Operations:
  • Lead the bi-weekly payroll process and off cycle payroll cycles in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Resolve complex issues related to taxes, deductions, timekeeping, and pay calculations.
  • Support bonus payments, adjustments, and special payout processing.
  • Assist and respond to employee and manager payroll inquiries with accuracy and professionalism.
 
Systems & Technical Expertise:
  • Work efficiently within Workday and SAP payroll systems.
  • Participate in system upgrades, configuration changes, regression testing, and pay rule validation.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization.
 
Compliance & Controls:
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
  • Assist with garnishments, wage withholding, and other statutory requirements.
  • Ensure payroll activities comply with internal SOX controls and regulatory guidelines.
  • Research payroll compliance issues and provide guidance based on current regulations.
 
Reporting & Documentation:
  • Conduct payroll analysis and prepare reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Support quarterly and year end activities, including W 2s, 941 filings, and reconciliation tasks.
  • Develop and maintain payroll procedures, documentation, and knowledge base articles.
 
Cross Functional Collaboration:
  • Serve as a payroll subject matter expert for HR, managers, and employees.
  • Collaborate on timekeeping, data validation, and interface accuracy.
  • Build effective relationships across HR, Finance, and other partner functions.
  • Maintain working knowledge of related areas, including benefits and stock programs.

  • Analytical: Skilled in analyzing payroll data, identifying trends, troubleshooting issues, and recommending improvements.
  • Tech Savvy: Comfortable navigating payroll systems; hands-on experience with Workday or SAP preferred; Excel proficiency a plus.
  • Communicator: Able to explain payroll concepts clearly to non-payroll audiences; strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative: Works effectively across HR, Finance, and operational teams.
  • Accountable: A proactive self-starter who takes ownership and consistently delivers accurate and timely results.
Must Have:
  • Generates the company payroll, including labor distribution records, vacation and sick leave accrual, overtime, and withholding status.
  • Meets all government reporting requirements for payroll taxes, withholding, and employer contributions.
  • 5-7 years of experience.
