Job Title: Construction & Facilities EH&S (Environmental Health & Safety) Lead
Location: Lexington, MA 02421
Duration: 12 Months (Possibility of extension depending upon business requirements and performance)
Shift: M-F 8-5 p.m. or 6 am – 3 p.m. (schedule may vary)

Purpose
  • The Construction & Facilities EH&S Lead collaborates closely with both the facilities operations team and the project team managing the cleint Greater Boston Expansion Project.
  • The job is primarily based in Lexington and Waltham.
 
Key responsibilities include
  • Creating and implementing comprehensive EH&S (Environmental Health & Safety) programs for facilities and construction safety.
  • These range from con-tractor and construction safety, permit to work program, Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), con-fined space entry, hazard communication, laboratory safety, chemical hygiene, hearing conservation, and promoting environmental sustainability.
  • Additionally, the Construction & Facilities EH&S Lead supports general project management and serves as a liaison between general contractor and company stakeholders.
  • This role helps ensure compliance, lowers risk, and fosters continuous improvement throughout the facility.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Develop and implement technical safety initiatives that support operations efficient-ly and on schedule.
  • Oversee the design and execution of safety programs that ensure safe, compliant, and effective operation.
  • Act as the tactical liaison between EH&S and site expansion or construction projects, collaborating with project sponsors and support teams.
  • Serve as the EH&S representative supporting the site’s functional business units.
  • Continuously enhance the risk assessment process to proactively identify and mitigate enterprise-level risks.
  • Lead and participate in investigations, addressing compliance concerns and resolving regulatory questions.
  • Support the development and implementation of the site’s EHS Management System.
  • Partner with EH&S team on initiatives and align site practices with enterprise standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support EH&S and site objectives.
 
Desired Skills:
  • Strong understanding of EH&S principles, including relevant laws and regulations.
  • Proven ability to design, develop, and implement EHS Management Systems (safe-ty, environmental, and health programs).
  • Ability to assess processes and equipment for risks; develop solutions to reduce hazards and environmental impact
  • Experience in research laboratories, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical environments.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in diverse environments.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Readiness to respond to emergencies and lead effectively in critical situations.
  • Ability to identify hazards, drive continuous improvement, and implement practical risk control measures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels.

Qualifications
  • 7+ years' experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher is required
  • EHS certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) for safety management, or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) are strongly desired but not required
 
Additional
This position is essential to maintain compliance, mitigate safety risks, and prevent potential delays on expansion project. Without it, we face increased risk of non-compliance and safety incidents, which could for example impact the project schedule.
