Laboratory Assistant

Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM


Qualifications:
High volume lab, work independently as well as on a team, strong performance management, ability to work with others in a fast-paced environment etc. These particular roles require no experience and we will train. We just need the people to be willing to work hard, prepared to learn and be a good team player.

Optical Lab: Mechanical testing for optical samples.
Tools/Furniture: Test preparation / setup
Toy Team: Mechanical testing for toy samples

Responsibilities:
  • The laboratory assistant works with our senior staff to process lab samples, perform tests, and record and analyze results.
  • Builds and/or adapts basic setup and test equipment for performance of tests.
  • Performs tests using general laboratory equipment.
  • Performs routine care of designated test equipment and work area.
  • Operates computer terminal to extract/input readily available information and to use available software.
  • As directed follows defined test plans and datasheets.
  • Evaluates test performance and sample operation to properly evaluate test results.
  • Records and explains test results. Reads and interprets results of tests.
  • Prepares charts, graphs and reports to explain test results.
  • Examines test samples, reads measuring instruments and reviews test data with supervisor.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and operational instructions.
  • As instructed examines customer samples and learns to operate basic tests for each case.
  • Communicates with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation.
  • Operates designated laboratory equipment and tools as directed.
  • Receives instructions from and reports data to engineers and other laboratory technician staff.
  • Records observed or calculated data on appropriate data sheets. Develops working knowledge of the job, methods, instrumentation and systems.
  • Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices. Performs other duties as directed.
