Job Title: Human Resources Manager
Preferred Title: Employee Relations Manager
Duration: 9 Months (likely extension to 12 months; potential for FTE conversion)
Location: Holly Springs, NC
Work Schedule: Onsite 4 days/week (1 remote day/week, flexible)
Hours: Standard business hours; overtime may be required
Travel: Up to 10% overnight travel
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Employee Relations Specialist / Employee Relations Manager to manage moderately complex ER cases in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This role requires strong expertise in investigations, labor relations, conflict resolution, and employment law compliance. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, onsite setting and demonstrates resilience when handling sensitive matters.
Key Responsibilities
Employee & Labor Relations

Conduct confidential investigations involving harassment, discrimination, misconduct, and policy violations.

Manage Compliance Hotline/Speak Up cases through resolution and documentation.

Facilitate terminations, including drafting documentation and leading meetings.

Advise and coach managers on employee relations best practices.

Partner with Legal and HR Business Partners to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.

Interpret company policies and collective bargaining agreements.

Support union environments, resolve grievances, and participate in arbitrations.

Build positive relationships with employees, union representatives, and Works Councils.
Medical Accommodations

Manage end-to-end accommodation processes.

Facilitate interactive discussions with HR and medical stakeholders.

Balance employee advocacy with business needs.

Document accommodation outcomes appropriately.
Corrective Action & Performance Management

Guide leaders on corrective action processes and SMART objectives.

Support development of performance improvement plans (PIPs).

Promote high performance and engagement culture.

Maintain accurate employee documentation.
Training & Program Development

Partner with Learning & Development to deliver ER training.

Support development and implementation of ER programs and initiatives.
Special Projects & Administration

Contribute to HR/ER projects.

Maintain case documentation for compliance and reporting.

Manage ER cases through systems such as ServiceNow and NAVEX EthicsPoint.
Working Environment

High-volume case load (25–40 cases per week).

Must triage cases based on urgency (e.g., safety threats vs. performance issues).

Frequent face-to-face interaction at Holly Springs site.

Fast-paced environment with potential emotional impact; resilience required.

Structured 1-month ramp-up training and strong peer support network.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in HR, Organizational Psychology, Business, or related field.

5–7 years of HR experience with strong focus on Employee Relations investigations.

Experience in fast-paced, high-volume environments (required).

Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance.

Experience with HRIS and case management systems.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

High discretion handling confidential matters.

Must be local to Holly Springs, NC and able to work onsite 4 days/week.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in unionized/labor relations environments.

SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

Experience in global, matrixed organizations.
