Location: Dalton, GA
Position Summary
We are currently building internal billing and revenue cycle infrastructure as part of an initiative to bring hospital billing operations in-house. This role will be responsible for managing billing processes and/or insurance follow-up functions to ensure timely, accurate reimbursement and optimal financial performance. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in hospital or healthcare billing environments and is comfortable helping establish workflows, processes, and best practices during a growth and transition phase.

Key Responsibilities
Billing Operations Management
- Oversee end-to-end hospital billing processes, including claim creation, submission, and resolution.
- Ensure claims are submitted accurately and in compliance with payer requirements, regulatory standards, and internal policies.
- Monitor billing productivity, accuracy, and key performance indicators (KPIs) such as clean claim rate, days in AR, and denial rates.
- Assist with building and implementing billing workflows, policies, and procedures for in-house operations.
- Manage insurance follow-up activities to ensure timely resolution of unpaid or underpaid claims.
- Investigate denials, underpayments, and payment delays; implement strategies to improve reimbursement.
- Work with payers to resolve complex billing issues and escalate when necessary.
- Analyze AR aging reports and prioritize accounts for follow-up and resolution.
- Help build and scale revenue cycle operations as billing functions are brought in-house.
- Train, mentor, and support billing and follow-up staff as the team grows.
- Collaborate with finance, coding, patient access, and clinical departments to improve revenue cycle efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and workflow optimization.
- Track and report billing performance metrics, trends, and operational insights.
- Provide recommendations to leadership to improve reimbursement, reduce denials, and accelerate cash flow.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare billing, insurance follow-up, or revenue cycle operations.
- Strong experience with hospital billing, physician billing, or both.
- Deep understanding of insurance claims processing, denial management, and payer requirements.
- Experience working with EHR/EMR and billing systems (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of AR management, insurance follow-up workflows, and reimbursement processes.
- Ability to analyze reports, identify trends, and implement process improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a Billing Manager, AR Manager, or Insurance Follow-Up leadership role.
- Experience helping transition billing operations in-house or building new revenue cycle teams.
- Experience managing or mentoring staff.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Healthcare certification (CRCR, CPC, HFMA, or similar) preferred.
