Position Summary: Biotherapeutics and Genetic Medicine (BGM) is looking to recruit a highly skilled and self-motivated scientist with experience in protein analytical techniques used to characterize biologics discovery. Ideally, the successful candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in the biotech/biopharmaceutical industry or in an academic environment, preferably with SPR experience.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the development and execution of SPR assays used within the group to identify therapeutic molecules and to characterize their target-binding properties.
The main responsibility will be to perform SPR screening and kinetic characterization assays in advancing biologics project supporting the pipeline.
Background & Context: Role sits within Biotherapeutics & Genetic Medicine — specifically the Biomolecular Interaction Group. Team supports Discovery of Biologics across multiple Therapeutic Areas. Group develops Binding & Characterization Assays for biologic molecules. Works with Recombinant Targets / Antigens generated and purified onsite. Highly Fast-Paced Environment supporting multiple Project Teams. Role supports Drug Discovery, not Manufacturing / QC / GLP.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) Biacore assays to generate selection criteria for panels of antibodies, multi-specifics, and antibody-like biologics
• Experience in applying Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) to biological interactions - Octet, KinExA, high throughput automated liquid handling, analytical assays, biotherapeutics or antibodies - would be a plus
• Execute high-throughput epitope binning of monoclonal antibodies
• Conduct antibody Fc characterization studies to support regulatory submissions
• Analyze, document, and report data in a concise manner, ensuring timely delivery
• Present work internally and across groups, as necessary
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in Biochemistry, Biology, or related fields
• Proven ability to independently execute and interpret experiments
• Multi-tasking in a high pace group, running samples on multiple automated biosensor instrument
• The candidate should be eager to meet aggressive timelines, to timely advance biotherapeutics supporting the pipeline
• Direct experience with biologics, monoclonal antibodies, and/or protein therapeutics is desired
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
• A goal-oriented team player with exceptional verbal and written communication skills, a strong can-do attitude, and the capability to excel in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
