Job Description

Title: Laboratory Assistant
Duration: 10+ Months
Location:  Lowell, AR 72745
Shift Timings : 1 pm to 9:30 pm

Responsibilities:
  • The laboratory assistant works with our senior staff to process lab samples, perform tests, and record and analyze results.
  • Builds and/or adapts basic setup and test equipment for performance of tests. Performs tests using general laboratory equipment.
  • Performs routine care of designated test equipment and work area.
  • Operates computer terminal to extract/input readily available information and to use available software.
  • As directed follows defined test plans and datasheets.
  • Evaluates test performance and sample operation to properly evaluate test results.
  • Records and explains test results.
  • Reads and interprets results of tests.
  • Prepares charts, graphs and reports to explain test results.
  • Examines test samples, reads measuring instruments and reviews test data with supervisor.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and operational instructions.
  • As instructed examines customer samples and learns to operate basic tests for each case. Communicates with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation.
  • Operates designated laboratory equipment and tools as directed.
  • Receives instructions from and reports data to engineers and other laboratory technician staff.
  • Records observed or calculated data on appropriate data sheets.
  • Develops working knowledge of the job, methods, instrumentation and systems.
  • Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
  • Bachelors degree in a relevant scientific field and a good understanding of laboratory information systems and laboratory equipment.
 
Qualifications:
  • These are new positions for a 2nd shift being created at the Hardlines-Lowell facility.
  • Please note the hours as 1pm-930pm.
  • Each of these positions will convert to full time.
  • We are looking for staff that have some level of technical or manufacturing related background.
  • The staff will be testing consumer products to various quality and regulatory standards so they must be proficient with English (read and write).
  • Candidates that know how to use various mechanical tools (tape measure, calipers, scales, power tools, saws, presses etc.)
