Job Description
Job Title: Lab Technician
Duration: 4+ Months
Location: Chicago, Illinois 60638
Job Summary
The primary function of the Lab Technician is to perform routine medical laboratory tests that support the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The technician works under the supervision of a Medical Technologist and follows established laboratory procedures to ensure accurate and reliable results.
Key Responsibilities
• Set up, adjust, maintain, and clean medical laboratory equipment.
• Analyze test and experiment results to ensure conformity with specifications using mechanical and electrical devices.
• Analyze, collect, and record test data and prepare reports using charts, graphs, and written narratives.
• Obtain specimens and perform cultivation, isolation, and identification of microorganisms for analysis.
• Examine stained cells to identify abnormalities.
• Consult with a pathologist to support final diagnoses when abnormal cells are identified.
Required Skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Basic knowledge of laboratory techniques used to diagnose and treat human injuries and diseases.
• Ability to analyze data accurately and document results clearly and consistently.
Education & Experience
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree in medical technology or vocational training preferred.
• 0–2 years of relevant laboratory experience required.
