Job Description

Job Title- QRC Auditing Services Specialist
Job Duration- 9 Months 
Job Location- Hershey PA (Remote) - 50% travel

NOTE: Global and Domestic travel up to 35% required.

Working independently and collaboratively, the individual in this position is responsible for the following:
Manage and execute global internal facility Food Safety / Food Quality System Assessments

Responsibilities: 
Assemble and advise cross functional teams to address and or resolve critical and major food safety non-conformities identified during assessments. Works proactively with regional directors on resolution of critical food safety concerns. Advises on corrective actions to address certification assessment non-conformities. Provide best demonstrated practices across the global manufacturing network.
Provide comments on behalf of client to GFSI Certification Standards teams and other trade associations. Represent the client on working groups to influence global standards regarding Food Safety and Assessments.
Corporate subject matter expert (SME) for Quality System Assessments, Food Safety Assessments, and Global Food Safety Initiative certification schemes. Monitor global activities involving quality system assessments, assessment processes and industry best practices for potential implementation. Develop and maintain QRC policies and programs related to assessment management.

Major Duties/Responsibilities: Identify the major duties/responsibilities of the job. List the percentage of the incumbent's time that will be spent on each major duty/responsibility. Time % Summary of major duties:
1. 40% Manages Food Safety / Food Quality Assessment Program:
• Effectively plan and manage internal quality system assessments of all  Company Global Manufacturing facilities.
• Development of auditor capability and competency at COE level and THC owned facilities.
• Liaison with Internal Audit as QRC Business Contact for follow up and resolution of open recommendations.
• Partner with Internal Audit for collaboration on assessment processes and follow up activities.
• Develop and implement quarterly review with QRC Senior Leadership regarding outstanding food safety issues and concerns

2. 30% Governance Of Food Safety / Food Quality Assessment Programs
Lead and ensure compatibility and consistency of assessment programs across the supply chain to include Supplier, Contract Manufacturing, Distribution and Food Service / Licensing.
• Set criteria for auditors and third party assessment providers, build relationships, communicate ongoing needs, define and resolve corrective actions.
• Manage relationships and contract development with third party assessment providers. Ensure auditor capabilities and calibration.

3. 20% Global Food Safety Initiative Subject Matter Expert
• Company expert on all recognized GFSI standards.
• Advise on currency of THC Product Excellence Program standards in alignment with GFSI standards.
• Assure network of practitioners at all THC manufacturing facilities have proper training, and maintain currency against relevant standards
• Build and maintain relationships with GFSI standard owners and certifying bodies, assuring certification schedules are met and issues are addressed.

4. 10% Project Leadership:
Function as QRC (Governance) representative on non-routine activities associated with project / team assignments with may include global assessment documentation and storage systems, building of Key Performance Indicators linked with Assessments, Mergers and Acquisitions, Divestitures, and new facility operations and design advice.

Strategy and policy establishment scope Global - Develop global policy and standards regarding assessment practices across the supply chain.
Subject Matter Expert Recognized as company expert on Global Food Safety Initiative Certification Schemes, and Food Safety Auditing processes
Interaction across organization Interacts closely with production personnel, manufacturing facility staff, QRC COEs and Regional personnel and leadership team
Food Safety Risk/Exposure Scope Conducts internal Food Quality / Food Safety System Assessments for all global manufacturing facilities.
Business Impact Scope (cost, safety, timing, performance) Global consumer food safety; mitigate potential impact to the client’s brand reputation. Maintain compliance with GFSI certification requirements.
Internal Leadership Lead and work with internal teams.
Global Leadership Lead and work with external groups.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities: Include only required physical and/or mental abilities and special criteria (heavy lifting, driver's license requirement, overtime, special work hours, etc.). • Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control principles.
• Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) Training
• Thorough knowledge of U.S. FDA regulations, Global Food Safety Regulations, quality design principles, and GMP’s.
• Additional regional knowledge of pertinent GMP and /or HACCP regulations outside of the U.S.
• Training on implementation of the following GFSI standards: SQF, FSSC 22000, BRC standards. Understanding of the certification processes. FSSC 22000 Auditor / Lead Auditor training preferred.
• Knowledge of Food Manufacturing practices and processes.
• Problem Solving/Decision Making abilities with the ability to troubleshoot and evaluate quality systems.
• Ability to multi-task, self-motivated and self-starting, well disciplined and free of bias.
• Must be able to travel 30 – 40% of the time, with some international travel required. Travel may occur on weekends.
• Ability to obtain passport and appropriate Visas.
• Valid driver’s license

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or other related field.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years Quality Assurance experience in Consumer Packaged Goods Industry.

Certification Requirements
• Minimum Certifications: HACCP, PCQI or equivalent
• Preferred Certifications: ISO 9001:2015 Auditor Certification by RABQSA or ASQ , GFSI recognized certification – SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000, IFS and others
• Minimum 1 year of external assessment experience in the food sector category (FSC) that will be evaluated on client’s behalf.
• Preferred work experience in food processing such as confectionery, dairy, sweeteners, chocolate and non-chocolate, cereal, tree nuts, ground nuts, raisins, flour, meat, and baking.
