Job Description

Job Title: Network Engineer V
Duration: 12 Months
Location: Remote- US (West Coast preferred)


Job Description:
  • Provide technical and operational guidance and oversight to IP or Optical network deployments ensuring that projects are delivered on time and with quality.
  • Facilitate technical discussions with cross-functional teams to identify solutions, mitigate risks, and drive innovation.
  • Build and execute comprehensive deployment program scope, schedules, resource allocation, and ensure successful delivery of IP or Optical network deployment projects.
  • Define, track, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as deployment speed, quality, efficiency, and SLAs to measure program success.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and partners, ensuring that they meet contractual obligations and deliver high-quality services.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Data center engineers, Network engineers, and operations, to ensure alignment and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Establish and maintain regular reporting to senior management and stakeholders, providing insights into program performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Someone who is able to see the big picture, ability to work backwards to identify issues and create clarity
  • Operational excellence- data collection & analysis to provide current program views to leadership
Top 3 Must-Have Skills:

1. Deep Technical Expertise in IP or Optical Networking

  • Why it matters: The role requires hands-on experience and technical guidance in deploying and supporting large-scale IP and Optical networks.
  • Key aspects:
    • Mastery of IP networking protocols, architectures, and technologies (e.g., routing, switching, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, optical transport).
    • Ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and innovate within complex network environments.
    • Experience with IP OR Optical deployments is essential. The candidate does not need both, but needs either IP or Optical experience.

2. Program & Project Management for Network Deployments

  • Why it matters: The engineer will lead end-to-end deployment programs, ensuring projects are delivered on time and with high quality.
  • Key aspects:
    • Proven track record managing large-scale network infrastructure projects.
    • Skills in building and executing deployment scopes, schedules, and resource plans.
    • Experience defining, tracking, and analyzing KPIs (deployment speed, quality, efficiency, SLAs).
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

3. Cross-Functional Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Why it matters: Success in this role depends on effective collaboration with internal teams, vendors, and senior management.
  • Key aspects:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate technical discussions and drive alignment.
    • Experience managing vendor relationships and ensuring contractual obligations are met.
    • Ability to provide clear, regular reporting and insights to senior management and stakeholders.
Nice-to-Have Skills:

1. Experience with Automation and Network Orchestration

  • Familiarity with tools like Ansible, Python scripting, or Terraform.
  • Ability to automate deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting tasks for greater efficiency.

2. Cloud Networking Knowledge

  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and hybrid network architectures.
  • Experience integrating on-premises networks with cloud environments.

3. Security Best Practices

  • Knowledge of network security principles, firewalls, encryption, and compliance.
  • Experience implementing security controls in large-scale network deployments.
Degrees/Certifications:
No specific degrees or certifications

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
-Technical ability to  identify the right risks and ability to resolve
-Executing and communication, articulating business impact based on program status
-Look into projects to assist vendors with technology, analyze vendor data and systemic issues
-Assist to manage project portfolio and use technical skills to assist vendors with issues and report back to management
