Title: Mechanical Engineer IV
Location: North Reading, MA (Onsite)
Duration: 3 months (Extension/Conversion possible)
Role Overview
Client is seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer IV with strong manufacturing, supplier management, and scalability expertise. This role focuses on ramp-up and scale of mechanical and electromechanical components, supporting both prototype and high-volume production environments.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge with a bias for action, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams and external suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide Design for X (DFX) guidance on electromechanical designs
- Drive manufacturing best practices, including GD&T and tolerance analysis
- Launch tooling on accelerated schedules and assess project risk
- Review supplier manufacturing processes and identify/mitigate risks
- Qualify production processes using dimensional data, control plans, and PFMEAs
- Lead and participate in internal and external FMEA reviews
- Solve complex technical problems across multiple manufacturing commodities
- Manage supplier quality issues, including containment and root cause analysis
- Propose design changes to improve manufacturability and testability
- Evaluate and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
- Perform root cause analysis on production, supplier, and field failures
- Mentor junior engineers and promote an inclusive team culture
Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Strong experience with prototyping through production implementation
- Hands-on experience with GD&T, manufacturing processes, and NPI
- Experience designing complex mechanical products at production scale
Preferred Qualifications
- Supplier management and quality engineering experience
- Experience scaling electromechanical products in high-volume environments
- Strong understanding of manufacturing risk management and process qualification
